We had a wonderful evening at Horwood House, celebrating our Golden Wedding Anniversary. Private dining, close up magician, delicious meal, music. The events team made sure that everything ran smoothly. We were most impressed with the head waiter with hi attention to detail. Our daughter was running a little late due to M1 traffic, but it was not a problem as the meal was delayed by 15 minutes...the head waiter made sure that everyone was catered for, especially our two grandchildren with special dietary needs. Well done one and all !!

This was my first time staying here and I was really impressed. I stayed overnight and had both dinner and breakfast — the food was absolutely lovely. A special mention to Michael in the restaurant whose service was above and beyond and genuinely made the whole experience even better. And of course, the grounds are absolutely stunning. A beautiful place all round.

A lovely old mansion at the end of a very long drive! Unfortunately, the rooms are mainly next to the mansion in a modern "block" and the standard double we booked was tiny. If you like more room, you'll need to upgrade. The hotel itself was clean, and very well presented. We ate in the restaurant once and enjoyed our meal, the drinks were very reasonably priced too. The leisure facilities were well maintained, but when we arrived in the afternoon it was full of families with children who were obviously enjoying themselves in an extremely loud way! Not relaxing if you wanted a quiet time! Summer holidays are not the best time to visit if you want peace and quiet! Early morning was the best time to enjoy the facilities without children! The changing room was clean but not adequate for the numbers using the pool and I had so much trouble with the locks on the lockers that I took my things to the pool area and used the seats ( which was what most people were doing! ). The only disappointment facility wise in the leisure area was a lack of a jacuzzi. The hotel grounds are extensive and good for a walk after your evening meal. A beautiful hotel setting, just a few tweaks to make it perfect.

Had a two day stay from the 31st August 25.Lovely Manor House set in immaculate gardens.Very peaceful location. Ample free parking. The main hotel rooms are in an adjacent building & the amenities are to be found near to reception which can be some distance from one's room. All the staff we encountered were very pleasant & helpful. We ate in the restaurant both nights & the food was very good. The buffet breakfast catered for all tastes & the hot selection was excellent. Would we stay again YES definitely but next time we would request a room nearer to the restaurant & amenities & reception to avoid the long walk to these from the room(s.) Guest's who have difficulty walking should definitely request this when booking.

The advertisement for this hotel is very misleading. Walking towards the beautiful main building, I saw the sign for Reception at the opposite end of the garden. The illusion was shattered. The entrance, corridors and rooms were no different to a Premier Inn, and as I'd paid £174 for this experience, I wasn't best pleased. The insulation was poor so I heard every conversation through the door which was only 4' from the bed!!! The spa was nice although very busy so I ventured down early on Sunday morning. The pool water was cloudy which was a little disconcerting. Staff at the spa, Harry's cafe and the restaurant were excellent and couldn't have been more helpful. The breakfast was okay, but all the hot food was cold and the coffee machine gave adequate coffee which was a little disappointing. Would I stay again, NO, not for the price I paid!
