There are two categories. Take the largest one if you want to work from your room regularly. The espresso machine and fridge with soft drinks and water bottles make your life easier. The shower is excellent. The bathroom is spacious. They have enough space for a comfortable stay. The restaurant where breakfast is served, Bella Italia, has a pleasant atmosphere.

The Hotel was fine and the staff were great. Unfortunately the same cannot be said of the Bella Italia restaurant. My daughter is coeliac and within an hour of eating a gluten free pizza fell ill and we had to cancel our planned visit to Niche in the evening. It was clear the kitchen had no understanding of the need for separate preparation areas and utensils. The quality of the food was average at best and the breakfast quality and choices were abysmal. The stars I gave for service relate to the hotel staff and NOT the restaurant There are plenty of restaurants in the vicinity who have better choices and prices. The Bear for e.g is a 2min walk away and although not gluten free had the best burgers I’ve had in a long time

I feel like price to value for the rooms was not up to par. Our first stay our room was better. Then when we came back from a weekend trip the second room the concierge told us we got an upgrade, but it was much smaller and had a view of the side of a building with pipes. Less space, so it was deceptive because we payed the same or more. We aren't sure to stay at Mercure again because of this experience.

Only giving it 2 stars bc the staff is pleasant - otherwise this would be a one-star review! Paid a lot of money for an awful room. On the ground floor looking out into a mechanical shaft. Secondly, air conditioning is not working and the room is sweltering. Was offered a fan which is circulating hot air. Also, I booked a room that is to accommodate three people, the third “bed” is a pull out couch. Incredibly disappointing room and hotel. Definitely not a four-star hotel. I will be disputing my room charge with my credit card company.
