We spent 3 nights in this hotel. Friday night and Saturday nights were awful, as we could hear drunk people scream and sing all night in the courtyard. What a shame that the hotel does not do anything about these hords of drunk people that disturb customers. What a shame that the youth in Newcastle seems only interested in drinking themselves out until they drop. On Sunday morning we saw a woman who fell so bad during the night that she broke her foot. Sunday night the drunk parties had left and we could finally sleep. Breakfast is also following the same trend: superbusy and noisy over the weekend. Nice and quiet on Monday morning. Housekeeping was slow. It took 48h to bring us a box of tissues (box was empty when we arrived).

The public areas are nice and well looked after, but my room was very tired looking. Couldn't have a shower due to the limescale build up on the shower head, and the sink was barely a trickle of water for the same reason. The curtains didn't close all the way on the right hand side, and there was no aircon! Luckily it was on the cool side of the building so wasn't so much of an issue with the windows open.

Stayed 2 nights with a large group of over 90. Each year we have to book a hotel for an outside event and we have had varying experiences over many years. This hotel was by far the best we have used in a long time. Lovely food, clean, great reception service, great general service, friendly helpful staff including restaurant, bar, taxi valet lady and the night porter who went above and beyond his normal duties. Although our weekend was busy, it was nice to come back to the relaxing atmosphere at the hotel.

A great downtown location just a few minutes easy walk from the station, the metro and the bus station. We got a really warm welcome and when Paul on reception knew we were having a city break he gave us a very helpful introduction. The room was comfortable. The food was good but not brilliant. We enjoyed our stay in Newcastle and the hotel helped make the experience so positive.

If it wasn't for the expensive bar drinks, this would of been 5 stars. But for a stag do, which I heard this hotel was famous for, you couldn't fault it. Don't be put off staying here for anything else either, as the staff (and security) FULLY enforce the rules at night especially. I saw couples, AND families staying on a busy February weekend. It's clean, it's fresh, it's very secure. The breakfast was decent all you can eat buffet, but not a cheap buffet. The location is kind of on the edge of the city and very quiet. But I was only a 10 minute walk away from Tiger Tiger club in the city centre. So, good for all things in the centre and that side of the city. Will definitely use again!
