Terrible service. Slow to acknowledge us despite three people being at the bar. There were two particularly lazy girls who seemed to be permanently behind the bar gossiping and waiting for the others to do the work whilst a girl, who was clearly new and clueless but at least trying, ran around doing all the leg work. They were Extremely slow at taking our order and the food service was just as bad. Really tasty roast but it was served with a pitiful amount of cold veg - probably as it sat on the hot plate for 20 minutes whilst the staff argued over who was going to serve it. Asking for sauces is like you’ve asked them for something completely out of the ordinary and confusing. We then sat for 15 minutes with dirty plates despite staff walking past our table four times and we were very visibly finished. We’ve been coming here for 10 years, and sadly this is one of a handful of bad experiences in the last two months. Were unlikely to come again. It’s a shame as it used to be the best roast in Thame. Consider new waiting staff, as frankly it’s letting the whole place down.

Extremely good service. Welcoming and friendly yet not over-attentive. Lovely meal at a very reasonable price. Highly recommended

Having had many Sunday lunches and been more than satisfied, with good, hot and tasty Sunday lunch and excellent service, sadly today was a big disappointment. Firstly greeted at front door by Cans, bottles and empty plastic containers. The young man who took my order had his mouth full and could not answer me. I sat down and was allowed my dog in, so all good. The beef was over cooked and very sparing, the leeks were barely cooked. The two staff at bar were more interested in chatting to each other than there two tables of customers. So sadly I will not be visiting this establishment for a long while.

Had a lovely drink with friends here and was so impressed by the friendly manager, that I decided to return for food a few days later. The staff were attentive and we were quickly served with olives and drinks. After that it went downhill. We waited 45 minutes for our mains (despite the pub being very quiet). When they arrived, one was luke warm at best, the other (lamb neck) was so badly cooked it crunched when I tried to eat it. Was like biting down on a load of tendons, seriously yuck! Spoke to a member of staff who kindly offered to replace it, saying they'd already had a complaint about it (!). Having already waited so long I just asked for a bar snack of a (ready made) scotch egg. Another 20 minutes later with no sign, we decided to give up and walked into town to get something else. Incredibly disappointing.

Excellent service, wonderful pork roast with lots of gorgeous seasonal vegetables, lashings of red wine gravy. Lovely setting and brilliant staff.... P.S. Highly recommend the cider and London Pride too!!!
