Was here for a friends wedding. Great venue. Lovely setting. The whole day was great

Let's start with the positives. The venue itself is absolutely beautiful, stunning and amazing. Honestly visually it is an amazing place with various beautiful backdrops for photos. Catering staff bought out the most amazing food ever and can't fault them whatsoever. Had a very minor issue where an 8 month pregnant lady was refused water in 30 degrees heat but quickly fixed by a lovely lady called Emma. Then we get onto one individual gentlemen who was rude, argumentative and disrespectful. He spoke down to myself and my dad, belittled us on multiple occasions ruining the end of the day for us. This was all because we wanted to cut the cake ourselves and have the niece and nephews distribute the cakes around as was agreed before the wedding. After this was made clear he became awfully petty over using 4 napkins which we took from the tables we had just eaten from and weren't cleaned yet. Not only did he berate us once for these napkins but 3 times over 30 minutes. Which then led to other petty disputes. The icing on the cake came when we started to transport all presents to the car at 10.30 at night. We were approached and informed "my voice is too demanding and deep and while in the car park will need to be quiet". So not shouting talking with a deep voice which we saw as another form of petty retaliation because of the cake cutting incident. Obviously being shocked I walked away to collect my family to leave believing the night was only going to get worse to find out the gentlemen had walked off in a huff and continued to call myself and my dad names such as "moron" and "useless" among other more derogatory terms.

A lovely location for a wedding, beautiful grounds, attentive staff, great food and drink. My only warning is that the dance room is the hottest place on earth and no fresh air as the windows are sealed (which these days feels uncomfortable for two reasons) I only hope nobody gets ill. Nobody could really dance for long before they would have to go outside to cool down. That's a shame as the music was great and the party would get going but then fade as people nearly passed out from heat! So be prepared to take frequent breaks, the air con couldn't work hard enough. But that's the only thing that stopped it being perfect.

Great venue, we went to a wedding here and the outside bar overlooking the river was perfect. Having the separate levels allowed guests to peep off into their groups whilst still feeling part of the event. Would highly recommend!

Recently got married here, the venue and the staff are absolutely fantastic, Emma and her team made the whole planning process as easy as can be for us and communication (even through a pandemic) was great! They were quick at answering our questions and really helped put our mind at ease in the run up to the big day. We were fortunate enough to have glorious sunshine on our day and the outdoor space was a huge hit with our guests. Would highly recommend Sopley Mill!
