Ashford International Hotel, Exclusive Hire

Another pleasant stay. It's generally quiet and we are left to our own devices. The pool is great fun for our 3 year old. I wish breakfast was a bit more affordable... it is just a buffet of standard nosh after all

Very convenient for euro tunnel and pet friendly, room was okay if a little dated and the front desk staff were nice. Now the negatives, the toilet had excrement on it still from the previous occupant which didn't give us confidence of the cleanliness of the room in general. The bar staff were mostly absent and rude when they did come back so we ended up just leaving and eating some snacks we had packed for the road.

Stopped here for 2 night for work and a conference. All the staff were friendly and helpful, no complaints there, room were generally good, clean and spacious, however, the food was something altogether different. We are in the restaurant on the first night, and the food was an abomination. At the better part of £20 per main, we were expecting something reasonable nice, but all of it was overcooked, oily and tasted almost off. We are what we could (we'd travelled for nearly 6 hours to get there so we're bloody hungry!) But couldn't eat it all, it was rancid. The server was very helpful and apologetic, and a discount was given, which is fair enough. The second night was a works conference, unsure who was at fault, but we were advised to be downstairs for 6:15 as food would be served promptly at 6:30. I think it was nearer 7:30pm by the time we ate. Food was nice enough (nothing fried this time!) But still not staggering and quite bland. The other annoyance, which again, I can't attribute to anyone in particular, is that everyone who had stayed on the Thursday night, found their keycard no longer worked on the Friday. It's a big hotel, and given that we were all rushing to get ready for the evening, it didn't help losing 15 minutes walking back to reception and queuing to get keys reset. Slightly frustrating!! On a more positive note, it is well located, and there is ample parking (go the the right of the building, this needs a sign!)
