Came for a wedding 21 August and great set up. Not Impressed with bar lady eating a doughnut, licking fingers and handling glasses he filling while serving while covid still present. Aside from civid, not professional either. Shame

This hotel was a really mixed bag of good and bad. On the good side the location is absolutely beautiful with large open spaces and well maintained lawns and walks around the grounds. The staff were helpful and Gordon the operations manager merits a special mention for excellent service. The afternoon tea was great with a good selection of sandwiches, cakes, scones etc. so I would recommend that for anyone that fancies an afternoon nibble. On the downside though the room we had was old and dated, some might say tired but I would describe as exhausted. The door handle was held on by a piece of wood and 4 screws, the shower had black mold over it and there was only a high level window that you couldn't really see out of. We'd booked dinner for 7:45PM but didn't actually get our first course until 9PM. The dinner main courses were not very good and the vegetarian option that 2 of us had were returned as they were cold and inedible. Because it was now so late 9:20PM the chef was only able to offer a cold salad as an alternative. We had a bottle of Chenin Blanc which was good and ordered a bottle of Merlot as well but when we tasted the Merlot we realized it wasn't really wine but rather concentrated grape juice that had been imported and was bottled into 'wine' in the UK. We were given a replacement bottle of red for free, which was great, but I'd advise people to check the wine they are being served (avoid the pink and white labelled wine). So all in all a very mixed bag and I'm afraid that the plus points don't make up for the negatives. I think with the correct investment this could be a top notch location but not at the moment.

I would put 0/5 stars if I could. The pictures on the wowcher deal was deceiving, everything about this stay was so poor - I cannot express how disappointment and upset I am. I stayed in this hotel over the weekend and I can honestly say this was the WORST stay I’ve ever had, firstly the first room we was put into (room 6) was filthy, there were stains on the bath and multiple spiders in the room - not to mentioned the window was tiny and couldn’t be opened. They then advised there was no double rooms left and offered us a twin room, due to the standard our first room was in we had no choice but to move. I did ask if we could get a refund and leave on the same night to find somewhere else to stay but they advised this was not possible. My partner and I are not local so this was quite frustrating for us. The staff was not helpful, it felt as though they wasn’t bothered by our clear frustrations. In our twin room, the hot tap to the bath did not turn, there were coffee stains all over the table and the twin beds provided were not only dirty but they was also broken - this just adding to our disappointment. On our first full day here, we brought our breakfast back to the room, a member of staff advised the plates would be picked up, I did offer to bring them down myself but was assured they would be moved - this was not the case. The plates have been left for over 24hours. Our last complaint is the cleanliness of the cutlery and plates, we attended breakfast this morning and found that multiple plates had not been cleaned properly, I went through about 6 plates before I found one that we could eat off. This is disgusting. Baring in mind I paid for dinner on both nights and breakfast both, we only had 2/4 meals. As mentioned I do not recommend this stay at all, please do yourself a favour, pay a little extra and stay somewhere where you know you will receive a clean room, great food and great service.

We had booking for 2 nights from 30th Aug. When we arrived, we were told that the hotel is shutting down from next day. Our bank holiday was wasted in driving down and making the long journey back. Nothing was communicated to us in advance. Avoid this place, and if you have booked, then ask for a refund immediately
