We had a cream tea for two voucher bought for us which we decided to use today. The hotel is beautifully located and and the dining / bar area tastefully decorated with a nice airy contemporary feel. Lots of people had arrived all at the same time for cream teas and checkin and the chap on reception was a little bit stressed out (by his own admission!!) but we were duly seated and drinks orders taken. The food soon arrived and was delicious. Plenty enough to go round and all of it fabulous. Good flavours and interesting combinations especially with the ‘sweets’ and a lovely spot to eat them in. An open fire was roaring at one end of the lounge and we were seated on comfy sofas at the other .. all in all a nice experience and we would certainly go back!!

Stunning location in the New Forest with some amazing views . Would happily return and thoroughly recommend. Just minutes from the Museum by car. Even has 7kw & 50kw chargers on site. Swimming pool is a tad shallow and small but still nice to have the option to chill out in for a while.

Stayed here for a wedding party, in which the service was good with polite staff. A great location; great for walks, close to the station, and with a pub next door. There is plenty of parking too. Internally, the decor is quaint with a welcoming reception area. The rooms were rather clean, offered a limited selection of amenities (complementary water/tea/coffee & shampoo/body wash). The beds were relatively comfortable, with a choice of another blanket, but no extra pillows (four are provided). However, for £155 per night for the 'deluxe' room is ridiculous. To start, the floors (across the entire 1st & 2nd floors) are awful; every single step provides a symphony of noises that can be heard from the other end of the building. It certainly doesn't help when the walls are paper thin, so you can clearly hear what next door is watching up until midnight.. Furthermore, it seems that the room telephone did not work as it would just infinitely ring even when someone is sitting at reception or when trying to contact another room. Additionally, placing two single beds together doesn't embellish the 'deluxe' experience. Overall, unless you specifically require the location next to the station, I would personally book somewhere else to stay. As I feel this was little value for money.

Firstly the 1 star for service is for the hotel group, not the staff, who were amazing, Megan and James particularly good. They're in the unenviable position put on them by the hotel. Unfortunately you can't rely on the menu shown online, it does not relate to what is on offer. Breakfast, no salmon, no charactuie board, no bloomer or brown bread. Just packet white. Not good. It gets worse, omelettes, no, fried scrambled even poached, but, no omelettes as advertised online. Asked for one this morning and no! They've got eggs so I really can't understand, unless I misunderstood what an omelette is! The poor guy behind us wanted the vegetarian breakfast but, you guessed it, no vegetarian sausages. Oh dear. As for the salmon bagel, not a chance. Evening meal also bore little resemblance to the online menu. Summing up, nice room and spacious, great view. But that's it. A huge shout-out to Monty pythons cheese shop sketch which perfectly describes this place Avoid other than a bedroom.
