This was our first time staying at Bartley Lodge. Upon arrival we were made to feel very welcome by reception staff. Our room was small and the decor needed TLC small bathroom and the sink was outside in our room. TV only had 2 channels all the rest no signal and hotel broadband kept cutting out. The bath and shower water was luke warm..The hotel staff were called and upon there inspection agreed and very quickly found us an alternative room. Bar area small and seemed to be a lack of staff to manage it, and drinks expensive and service charge was added without acknowledgement. Visiting the pool we decided not to use as it was too small and one family using the pool and was already crowded. No female or male changing room facilities. Evening meal we were greeted and made to feel welcomed. The meals were outstanding and were hot and we didn't have to wait long very fresh and tasty. Upon the receipt of the bill again service at 10% was already added which we requested it to removed and my partner gave the server a generous tip 😀 Breakfast the following day was delayed as the server stated there was a machine error and lost our order even though she had wrote our order down. Overall I would visit again as we were able to bring our Dog with us for an overnight get away. Staff were very friendly and accommodating, food was delicious 😋 however bedrooms and bathrooms need alot of TLC and hotel seemed to be under staffed.. We look forward to visiting again 😊

Lovely hidden away gem at the edge of the New Forest. Dog friendly. Clean and tidy rooms, although seems to have been decorated not so long ago, maintenance could be done on a few things. A wedding fare was on when we arrived so as staff were being used for that took a while to be served at the bar once we'd checked in, however staff were friendly and helpful which made the visit extremely enjoyable. We were having an evening at a local pub/restaurant for a works get together. The hotel were kind enough to book a taxi for us but it cost £16 to travel less than 2 miles.

Located just inside the New Forest, this is an older character hotel, mixed with some more recent development. Our room was in the older part and was in desparate need of a good clean or refurbishment, especially given the price - the bed was far too firm as well. Corridors in our area were equally tired but the main ground floor social areas were much better. Food was good and the staff were very friendly but we probably wouldn't return.

The place has the potential to be really amazing however we did find it to be abit of a disappointment with our stay. Upon arrival in reception there was a woman complaining about something which left our party of 5 standing around for almost 10 minutes before we were acknowledged and checked in etc (there was only 1 member of staff on reception however it would have made sense for her to say I will just check these guests in and then carry on with your query as the door card handover took less than 1 minute) We initially had a snug room booked which in general was okay however it is very small and the shower pressure was very poor, the sink was also outside the main bathroom and in the bedroom itself seemed a little bizarre. It hadn't been cleaned properly either as there was thick dust on top of the wardrobe where I had put my bag. Unfortunately the mattress was very soft and as I have a slipped disc I knew I was not going to be able to sleep so I rung reception and asked if they could swap the mattress over for a firmer one... instead. We were actually offered a choice of 5 different rooms.. which was very good and very much appreciated. We were moved to a room 16 which was really nice and alot more spacious the only downsides were the cobwebs and 2 dead flys on the carpet and the lack of signal other than that very comfortable bed, shower was spacious and we were happy with it. It wasn't however serviced once during our 3 night stay (I did ask at reception on the 2nd night but still nothing was done). We went for dinner on the first night and again staff was very short... so the wait times were honestly pretty horrendous we went down at 7pm I think we actually sat to eat after placing our order at around 20.20pm.. I was ill as it was and just wanted to have an early night but this wasn't going to be the case I ended up going back to the room while my partner and family stayed for a coffee which I was told they struggled to make so they were Another hour or so after me.. Day 2. We went down for breakfast which was okay however after bringing the wrong order to start with when they did arrive my partners was stone cold and others were luke warm at best. We decided to stay in the hotel together that day while the family went out exploring. I went to the bar to get us a couple of drinks and it was only later on I was reading the bar menu where I realised I'd been over charged by £1.50...the person who served me had added a 10% service charge without asking which if it was with a meal and drinks etc I'd have no issue with however if he is doing that on every round of drinks it soon adds up... and quite frankly the drinks are very expensive as it is... a small can of redbull was £4.50.. I then came back to the bar about 2 or 3 hours later to get a drink and there was nobody manning reception or the bar and I waited almost 30 minutes for someone to show up and serve myself and the others waiting. I think for the money that people had spent to spend new years eve there customer service should have been much much better a couple of other guests I'd spoken to were also in disbelieve about the service and general lack of interest. Something which really sticks out was the walkie talkie which was left on loud in the main reception area whilst I was waiting for a drink and they were moaning about room 45 not accepting a sofa bed and having to make up a proper bed I believe the statement made wasalo g the lines of "I going to just make the sofa bed up and play dumb" not being funny but it's a hotel the guest is meant to leave wanting to come back but bartley lodge would not be on my list of places to revisit. Again as stated we went for new years eve getaway which stated tea, coffee, and cake from 3 until 5pm.... however they bought two cakes out and it was a free for all once gone (by 3.30) that's it nothing else available.. . Just seemed like a big lack of interest ot customer I WOULD STRONGLY RECOMMEND AVOIDING THE SWIMMING POOL AFTER USING IT I CONTRACTED BACTERIALCONJUNCTIVITIS AND AN EAR INFECTION.
