We had a lovely evening meal at Egypt Mill, the food was delicious and the decor beautiful. We were served by Morven who was attentive and friendly. The barman (sorry didn’t catch his name!) made my husbands favourite cocktail for him, even though it wasn’t on the menu. We will definitely return and would highly recommend.

Room was okay, a bit more rustic than expected but have been informed that rooms are being improved. More importantly, both the food and service were top notch. Stayed for a few nights and ate every night at Egypt Mill as the quality was of that high a standard. Additionally, on the morning of my leave, I had an early train to catch. This could have resulted in missing breakfast but accommodations were made to ensure I was not leaving on an empty stomach! If I’m in this area of the country again I would stay again in a heartbeat!!!

Our table for a birthday Sunday lunch for five of us was booked for 2pm. No one came to take our order until 2.45pm. The quality of food was really good in line with previous experience. At 4.30pm we were ready to choose a pudding and with no one coming to our table for some 10 minutes, I had to search for a member of staff to bring a menu to our table. When the pudding plates were collected I asked for the bill so we could leave swiftly. The bill never arrived and I had to search for the staff member. The bill was brought to our table with a promise of a card machine being brought back. Another 10 minute wait and eventually I took the bill to the bar and paid there. I distinctly got the impression that the dining area was understaffed when very busy and that for later in the afternoon when it was quieter, it seemed that many of the staff were either on break or had left. We eventually got away at 5.30pm.

The food and service were wonderful, however we were not informed that we needed to provide our vehicle registration upon arrival. This led to a parking fine, the appeal for which was rejected despite providing a card statement. Excellent £300 meal for 6 certainly won't be repeated.
