Fantastic location. Plenty of space in the car park which enabled us to get the bus into town. Really convenient. Bus stop very near hotel. The staff were polite and friendly. The rooms are beautiful. Huge bed! The breakfast choice was huge, but the meat sausages and black pudding let it down. Good veggie options but not advertised. For the price the hot breakfast should have been better quality. Hash browns and black pudding obviously been on a hot plate as dry. We sat in the bar and had a few drinks which reasonably priced.

I love this hotel. The staff are amazing, so friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much for them. We fell in love with the look of it for our wedding. It was perfect! We had a small ceremony and a larger evening do. The atmosphere was just what we wanted. We just wanted to go with the flow, with no stress on the day. The staff fell in with this and asked when we were ready for the next stage and went with us. At no point did we feel pushed or rushed. All they wanted to do was help and make sure we were happy. Pertunia was always helpful on the run up to the day and played a big part on the day. We would definitely recommend holding your wedding here. The rooms we stayed in were palatial and the smaller rooms were still big. The food was delicious and everyone commented on this. The best hotel we have stayed in and a small bus journey to York, what more could you ask for!

5 STARS to the staff with a special highlight of: Rupesh (who was the highlight of my stay, such a nice, sweet, and generous guy). Also Nick, and Mia who went out of their way to be kind and courteous as well as all the front desk attendants. I hosted an event here and the event spaces were beautiful and accommodating and would definitely return. The rooms were less than mediocre but I'll give them 3 stars for good measure. I will say a plus was the bathtub and a minus was the mattress (not very comfortable). The only food I had as well I'd say was mediocre. But the rooms did have decent television sets with access to Netflix and other streaming channels. It's very convenient to get to the city centre because the bus is across the street and there are a few nice places nearby to grab food or a coffee.

The best you can expect from a Best Western stay. The overall property and common areas were quite nice. Parking was convenient as well. The room was decent yet a bit run down and clearly not cleaned fully. The bed was quite uncomfortable and we found beetles crawling on the floor. The bathroom fixtures were very noisy. There were also weird noises we could hear from the corridor which made it a tad difficult to sleep. The WiFi didn't work throughout our stay.

The York Pavilion is a little way out of the city across the river. There is a bus stop outside the hotel with good service running throughout the week including Sundays. A taxi from the city centre will be between £9 and £10. The bedrooms are very nice, clean, and have character. I enjoyed the open beamed ceiling in the room that I had. There is a lounge area with arm chairs and sofas, with a large table in the centre. There is a bar, but it is really like a breakfast room and not a place where you can relax. Breakfast was good. A continental breakfast is available and hams are on offer, but you need to ask for these as they are sensibly kept in the kitchen fridge until requested. The cooked 'full English ' was good quality. Be aware that if you have any physical restrictions and have difficulty with stairs, it is important to let the very friendly and hospitable staff know in advance. From what I saw, there are lots of stairs.
