We had a good day out exploring the castle. For anyone who enjoys Tudor history this is a must! Well kept grounds and a good shop and cafe. The outdoor play structure is fantastic for older children as well as younger ones!

Great castle to visit. Packed with stuff and interesting stories of the history. It set in massive grounds with gardens and a lovely lake. Very picturesque. Look out for the animal topiary. The snowdrops are lovely at the moment in February with some daffodils as well. The tour for £3 is very worthwhile with extra stories and more rooms to visit.

Absolutely loved this place, the castle has a really warm cosy feel about it, loads of interesting historical information and images. Gardens lovely even though we're just getting into spring. Lovely shops, nice cafe, young lad doing a grand job on the coffee machine, probably need a second barrister at times. Staff lovely and friendly. Definitely planning on returning a but later in the year when everything is on bloom and possibly staying for a night or two.

A really enjoyable day out. Huge gardens and lots of walks to see, lakes, waterfalls, colourful and aromatic plants. The Castle is beautiful, crammed full of history, ranging from hundreds of years ago to (fairly) recent. Staff are very friendly and welcome. Our guide, Susan, was very interesting on the behind the scenes tour which was well worth the £3 each. Would go again and at different times of the year to get full experience of the gardens.

Great place to go and visit, doesn't matter if you're in the history. It has something for everyone. The staff are so friendly and knowledgeable. Only downside with the cafe, very slow, often filled with lots of children.
