Great location with shops nearby and a market on a wednesday which is worth going to have a look at as lovely cakes there! Reception was busy at times but staff very friendly and helpful and ask more about the hotel they will happily tell you some stories which they have experienced. Would definitely go back however the gym and swimming pool is not included and will have to pay as little as £4! which you can't moan about. Did have to change room but they let us change rooms and next day they sorted the door and toilet out which could be heard as we went into a room next door. So you can't fault them with that either. Great experience.

I have been using this hotel on and off for over a year now for work. The hotel is dated, but that suits the surroundings and the period feature building. Always been welcomed, quick check in, reasonable prices, easy to park. Spa/ swimming pool is additional cost, like the WiFi, but due to the cost of how low the rooms are costed, I don’t mind the additional cost.

If you're poor and want to pretend to be rich it's really good! Great value...We stayed at new years for only around £50 a night with a decent buffet breakfast (full English, fruit etc). As the reviews say, the coffee is diabolical. Lots of coach trips which I think is fairly typical but it meant to felt bustling, good people watching, and there's so many different lounges with chesterfield sofas that we could always of found a quiet corner when we wanted one. Bonus free firework display was top quality. Well kept, fresh paint, clean, including the pool and sauna. Pool wasn't too busy despite also being a members gym. Shame the steam room was out of action. The grounds and the town a short walk away are really lovely. Lord and lady had a spiffing time.

Just had a couple of nights stay. There are 2 bits to this hotel the old house and the newer building to the left. The old building which is beautiful seems mostly unused and more focused on weddings and events. The main guest accommodation and facilities aren't great. The room was adequate, a clean bed but very basic. Bad points: *Bathroom old, dated and peeling *Shower weak and Luke warm *No housekeeping provided, you have to ask at reception for towels and provisions. *The food was very bad, if you do stay here, be sure to have breakfast and evening meal somewhere else. It's on par with hospital food. *signal non existent, you will need to purchase WIFI at reception. *no plug socket near the bed, very few in the room. *blankets provided in the wardrobe, not cleaned it absolutely stunk. *tired looking grounds surrounding the hotel. The restaurant staff were all very young but very pleasant. It's clear the staff are doing there best. The hotel is just slowly deteriorating, which is a shame because it was obviously once a very grand establishment. I wouldn't return.... There are much nicer hotels in the area.

Sadly I had to leave after just over 2 hours. We really needed a nice relaxing sleep and thus was just down the road. At 9.30 we were woken by a staff member chatting on the radio to colleagues about finding an empty room. It was hard to find the check in reception which was decorated with dead flowers. The room was clean but very very tired. It was well equipped but for the sake of some fresh paint and some new silicone sealant it would of made the world of diffrence. £59 but for a couple of hours was expensive.
