Benares Mayfair is a Michelin-starred Indian restaurant located on Berkeley Square in one of London’s most prestigious neighbourhoods.

With refined cooking and perfectly presented dishes at the heart, Executive Chef Sameer Taneja creates seasonally changing menus that draw on influences and spices from all corners of the subcontinent, to enhance rather than overwhelm the top-quality ingredients sourced from UK’s finest producers.

Sameer Taneja is Executive Chef at Benares, London’s trail blazing Michelin-starred Indian restaurant in Mayfair. Using his classical training in French and Indian cuisine and 20 years’ experience working alongside some of the world’s best chefs, Sameer’s culinary style pairs high quality British ingredients with authentic Indian spices and techniques.

Benares has 4 private dining rooms and can be hired for exclusive events such as corporate functions, product launches and personal celebrations. The events and hospitality team will help tailor each event to the needs of the client to ensure an exceptional experience.

The Dover Private Dining Room is our largest room, accommodating up to 36 diners, and is one of the largest private dining spaces in Mayfair.

Located at the far end of the restaurant, it is a long room perfect for large groups.

With sepia and paprika coloured prints lining the walls, the simple dark wooden panelled room with white ceiling and sliding doors can also be completely private or opened up to become part of the main restaurant.

Came here for the three-course lunch set menu. The waiting staff were all very attentive and polite. They explained all the courses to us as well. There is a cloak room downstairs to leave your items if you’re carrying umbrellas etc. Food came very quickly and was well-presented. All the food tasted excellent! I was worried I wouldn’t be satisfied with the portion sizes but I actually came out feeling almost full - and I have a large stomach! They also threw in a couple of amuse-bouche which were also nice. Wasn’t too busy either and the atmosphere was very nice. We ended up paying about £50 each with water and service charge included. Would recommend!

Elegant award-winning Indian fine dining restaurant, located in Mayfair. Dark and atmospheric interior. Starting with a short climb up the entry stairs, meeting a floating water feature, and onto the casual bar and lounge area, before entering the large majestic dining area. The food was well curated and created. Service from Prabhat was excellent, being warm and welcoming.

We came for the set lunch menu to try it out as we heard so much about Benares, THE Indian Michelin star restaurant in Berkeley Square. The food was overall delicious; some tasty flavours but perhaps not the wow I was hoping for. Maybe i need to come back for dinner for that. Portions were smaller than if you were a la carte we noticed but still very good, we did not feel hungry coming out of it. Atmosphere is cosy and romantic, it’s quite dark in there and very calm. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed it but I still think there are better similar restaurants such as Trishna, Brigadiers, Bombay Brasserie.

One of the best Indian restaurants in a city full of Indian restaurants. And even the Michelin guide agrees with that. The food is done simply but with flair. The focus seems to be on letting the ingredients shine rather than on innovation and that is fine by me. The place gets very busy so reservations are a must. Even then we had to wait for about 20 minutes at the bar for our table to become available. Overall a good experience

I recently had the pleasure of indulging in the 'Ayurveda-Inspired Menu'. I must say, I was pleasantly surprised by how delicious it tasted. Although the portions were not particularly large, the wonderful ambience and attentive service more than made up for it. While I may not choose the set menu again in the future, I would recommend giving it a try for a flavorful experience.
