I decided to take my mother for a meal and a drink at the Shoreditch Courthouse as we are both from the area all of our lives and were curious as to how it would look inside. The decor was beautiful and we sat in the bar where a female staff member told us that somebody would be over soon to take our order. We waited for 15 minutes whilst various staff members walked past us and didn't stop to speak to us. I eventually flagged one of them down and she took our order for food ( light starters ) and drinks ( a Pepsi and an orange juice ). She then left us and our drinks were brought to us soon after. We then waited a further 30 minutes for our food to no avail. I asked two different female staff members where our food was and they said that they would go and find out. They never returned. Me and my Mother ended up running out of patience and decided to leave. I went to the bar to pay for the drinks and the barman, who spoke poor English began to pour me two fresh drinks. I said to him "Wait, are they for me"? He said "Yes". I told him "No. I am trying to pay for the two drinks that I have already had. I a leaving as the food was ordered 45 minutes ago and hasn't come. We are going". He finally understood me, went to the till to get my bill and then a female staff member came running over to apologise to me about the food delay and told me that it was "on its way". I told her to forget about it as we were leaving. She apologised and told me that the drinks were free, and said that there had been some sort of mix up with the food order as "many customers upstairs had come downstairs and their food orders had to be changed around". That made no sense to me at all. My Mother and me left, went around the corner to Hoxton Square, where we had a meal in Bills restaurant which was served to us within 15 minutes, was cheaper, the staff were much more relaxed and friendly, and the atmosphere was far more welcoming. I will not be returning to the Shoreditch Courthouse as the whole experience was very annoying, disheartening and unprofessional. Staff were always rushing about and didn't seem to know what they were doing. There was a couple next to us who arrived AFTER us and they were served their food BEFORE us. And the atmosphere was one of unprofessionalism and incompetence.

Terrible afternoon tea service. I was travelling from Canada to England, and was in London only for one day so I was really excited. The service and food were both disappointing. The waitress started off by telling us we could get unlimited tea and coffee and switch whenever we wanted, so we were initially impressed. They didn't take our order for 20 minutes. After they brought us our tea, it took over an hour of us waiting before we asked them why our food wasn't out yet. The waiter (different person) brought us our food within 30 seconds of us asking, so I assume they forgot about us. By that time we had already finished our tea and water. We sat for another hour waiting for our waiter or waitress to come by our table to offer us a refill. Not once did the servers make eye contact with us or give us the opportunity to request refills on tea. By the end of it, we sat there for over two hours without any servers tending to us. When I finally got a waiters attention (another different person) we requested a refill. He literally just filled our pots with hot water so we were left with disgusting watered down tea. At the end, I expressed to one of the waitresses how disappointed I was with the service and she kindly offered us two mocktails to make up for the terrible service. it was a nice gesture that we appreciated, but it doesn't make up for the worst service I've ever received in my life or the nearly 3 hours of time I lost at a below average high tea.

Took my partner here after she had an amazing afternoon tea experience a few months earlier. To describe the service as one star is being generous. I have never been anywhere which is such a shambles. Getting orders wrong, waiting an hour and half for starters, receiving the wrong food, being told that the dessert is on the way, checking the order, then being told that it is not an available option. Had to repeatedly top up my own water. In positive news, the food was ok. The unique nature of the restaurant and adjoining rooms will pull in people, especially tourists, but I would urge people to seek elsewhere.

Excellent venue. Visited for a work event and stayed 2 nights. The room was large and well maintained. The bar area is well decorated and has a good atmosphere. The function room is huge and the cinema was great.

Nice rooftop away from the usual Shoreditch crowd. Good charcuterie platter and average cocktails. A bit expensive surely but hey it’s a 4 stars hotel
