We had one night at the hotel. The room, one of the cottages, was quite tired and a little small but still comfortable. The bathroom was too small for me and using the loo for anything other than a pee was impossible , I’m 6’3” ! Dinner and breakfast in the restaurant was good. Lovely unique location, well worth staying there

I shall be honest this wasnt my hotel of choice but the one allocated to me on a business trip for 4 nights working at East Mids Airport. The hotel in terms of character and scenery is majestic, however if you dont have a car its an issue. There is nothing in the vicinity within walking distance. Rooms are lovely, quaint and very quiet. Loved listening to the swans and ducks in the morning. Hot breakfast buffet ok but restaurant menu for dinner very limited especially if your stay is a week long like mine. Bored and didnt find anything i liked by the 2nd night. By the way its not cheap !!! Conclusion not a business stay hotel, romantic stop over yes.

The positives. Staff are lovely, food was excellent, great location. The negatives. We stayed in a suite, c.£189 room only. No fridge, water or glasses in the room. The room itself has definitely seen better days, no pull cord on the blind, bathroom light coming away from the ceiling, same with the sealant around the sink and cracked floor tiles. Now, the worst part is the bed. It tilts to one side (towards the bathroom) the mirrored headboard was covered in someone else's hair grease and the pillows were solid and cheap (we ended up using the cushions out of the lounge). This resulted in a terrible nights sleep.

The staff are very nice. The rooms are very tired and need upgrading. There was a lot of webs on the top of the floor lamp that have been there a long time. We stayed on a bed breakfast and three course meal package at £179. The meal was very nice. I would advise you to check your bill on departure. The receptionist was very helpful and adjusted our bill accordingly. The setting of the hotel by the river is very nice but the grounds need work to get it looking better.
