Our warm and welcoming brasserie and pub in Berkhamsted, Hertfordshire, harks back to its roots as a coaching inn. There are cosy nooks aplenty for a quiet pint, as well as a beautiful airy restaurant for dining.

We are famous for our monthly changing set menu, as well as our extensive a la carte selection and our fabulous party menus. Our chefs cook everything from scratch in the open kitchen (which also adds a little theatre to the proceedings). In the summer months, our hidden courtyard is the perfect suntrap for al fresco dining with a chilled glass of our bespoke bubbly.

We really are proud of the diversity our pub offers and we cater for numerous special occasions including wedding receptions, birthday parties, corporate events and much more... we look forward to discovering in which and how many of the ways that the Highwayman will become your perfect fit.

Today we just didn’t fancy cooking, so as we were driving through Berkhamsted we just parked up and picked the first pub we passed. OMG what a gem!!! The staff are amazing and helpful the food is to die for. And I am speechless with the desserts. We were so impressed we booked there and then to come back!!!

Dropped in Sunday after a decent fog walk with a group of friends. For a big place gives off a very warm and cosy vibe. A lot of people agree, very busy, if going for food absolutely must book. Good beer and wine selection, didn't have food but looks good. See photo.

I could wax lyrical about this place, or simply say -- you've got to try the food and enjoy the service. Simply stunning Chateaubriand, perfectly cooked, and sublime gorgeous flavour. This place was busy, two days until Christmas, yet the staff were calm, efficient, and phenomenal. Restaurant food, cooked well, served with a smile, in a friendly atmosphere.

We enjoyed a fantastic meal here with family. Everything was excellent. I particularly enjoyed the cheese souffle. Wine also fabulous.
