January 2025What an absolutely fabulous meal and service at lunch (11.01.25.) From the moment we arrived nothing was too much trouble, our train was delayed and they pushed our reservation back. Nico & team were pleasant and friendly but not intrusive. Where do I begin on the food & drinks the best we have all had. We all had a cocktail I can highly recommend the Savoy Grill Renaissance, I usually drink French Martini but this was a step up. We also order drinks not on the menu which was no problem. We had a French 75 it was delightfully fresh. We chose the a la carte menu and it did not disappoint. The sourdough and marmite butter blended effortless together with a toffee type taste. Our starters of steak tartare, the butternut squash veloute (mine) was so smooth, favour full especially with the mushrooms & apple pieces. Friends had steak tartare, salmon but the show stopper was the soufle that never collapsed, faulted in its consistency. For mains we had chateaubriand which was amazing! The rub and cooking of the chateaubriand was faultless. Friends had the superb beef wellington cooked to their choosing. The knives glided through the meat. All the sauces and side dishes were complimentary to our mains. We had a break between mains and dessert as we were full, no problem. We were then given a show by Nico on how to make flambé crepes its was great part of the lunch and tasted superb, you were able to taste the favour of the Grand Marnier, the orange came through but not overpowering for my taste. I shared the tart tatin and the apples were something else soft, sweet, and the salted caramel and ice cream was a mouthful of something special. Better than experienced in France. We finished off our trip in the American bar with final cocktails and coffee, I great way to finish an amazing meal. I cannot recommend it enough.

February 2025When we arrived there was some scaffolding up near the theatre. That didn’t bother us it was when we entered and was hit with this awful smell in the lobby. Anyway, we were shown where the restaurant was and then our coats were taken and we were guided to our table. The waiters were very good and professional. The food outstanding, I had purchased the lunch as a gift for my friends 40th birthday just under a year ago and decided to go in Jan so we did a joint celebration as it was my birthday. The smell in the lobby did not affect the restaurant. The beef wellington has an extra charge on it and you do get charged a service charge but i didn’t mind as the service was great anyway.

February 2025The welcoming is appropriate for a place like the Savoy, All the waiters were very attentive and professional. The starter was miserable, a very thin slice of smoked salmon with one leaf of salad. It is completely miserable, not expecting a huge portion but expecting the minimum accepable. It took us a while to receive the main dish, which was good ( the quarter of sea bream ) small pprtion but acceptable for the place and quality. The dish was well prepared and done with a refined taste. Really enjoyed the combination of the artichokes crispy and pure with the raisins. The desert was average, nothing waw for the place and price paid. Was a slice of cheese with some Portuguese Jam and some hard thin slices of gingerbread. Basically, the starter was miserable, the main dish was good, and I will say 4 stars and the desert a normal desert from a good restaurant, nothing else. The atmosphere needs to be refined, has it doesn't look like what you expect from a Savoy restaurant. The toilets were nice a clean by the way.

January 2025Had lunch here as in town for the darts, Staff were polite and reasonably quick with taking orders, The food was beautiful, as it should be as to what its costs and who’s restaurant I is. Salmon starter and beef wellington signature dish was had by me and my wife. Both really enjoyed it, drinks again are Expensive but again it’s what it is. Been there and tried it now so one off the list. Definitely worth a visit if you like This sort of experience. There is a service charge included in the bill so just be aware of it!
