What a good experience. Our guide Norman was so very knowledgeable about the castle. The tour also included coffee/tea and a biscuit at the end. Tour lasted around 2:30 hrs.

One of the most beautiful castles in Scotland, I would recommend a visit if you are ever in the Borders region. Not just a castle but a family home, and that family feeling can be felt throughout all the rooms. No stuffiness here like many other stately piles, and the guides make you feel very welcome and are very knowledgeable and enjoy showing guests around and answer your questions about all aspects of the history of both the castle and the Maitland family throughout the centuries. Finally, I must mention that there are five apartments within the castle, furnished to a very high standard, and being situated in such a wonderful part of Scotland its a great base for exploring the border region.

Lovely country mansion with added apartments that you can rent for holidays. Very posh, it is nice to be far removed from the riff raff for a weekend

Happened upon this lovely castle totally accidentally. Guided tour from Eugene and Jacqui was really really good. Don't expect lavish opulence and you won't be disappointed. Thoroughly enjoyed the visit and it was just a five minute walk from our caravan site!!
