Lovely stay here. Staff were brilliant, very helpful and had conversation. Room was nice and clean with very comfy bed. Was a bit small due to en-suite but this was lovely and very clean. Breakfast was lovely. The only thing to be aware of if you have any mobility problems make them aware as rooms on lower ground floor had quite a few sets of steps along the corridor. Will certainly use again if in that area

Great location but make sure you don't get a 'small double - put in 511. When booking specifically asked for best available and if that was the best, well, rest must have been awful. Already stayed prior weeks in better rooms in the actual hotel. Now, no lift access to room furthest away from anything (and corridor smelling of weed), no wardrobe just a couple of hooks to hang anything on, and no iron either. There was no room to swing a cat with the double what felt like a camp bed and having to shuffle round it. When asking and giving feedback about the room was told they don't normally use them. If I'd known beforehand that's what was available I would have booked somewhere else completely.Absolutly terrible room. Only plus was it felt more modern than the others.

Very good service in the grill and bar/ breakfast restaurant but I have to admit quite disappointing quality of rooms for a hotel with stars! Bedding smelt like someone's been smoking cigars on the bed before our check in 🤢 Stayed in a room in 500's which took extra 'hour' (exaggeration) to navigate into the basement type corridors which reminded me of a world war bunker. Wall heaters were out of order had to crank in a makeshift oil heater which was suboptimal for the English weather. Would not recommend if you're after a peaceful room for your stay in Newcastle.

Not enjoying this stay. This room stinks! When I turned up at the hotel, it looked nice. Lovely grounds, right next to the racecourse. Nice reception. I was expecting a pleasant stay. It absolutely stinks of urine on my corridor. Like a stinky alleyway in the town centre. I unlocked my room praying the smell would be outside and that stinks also but a different stink, not a urine stink. I located the smell coming from the bath plug. It smells like someone has been sat trumping in here for a week. The room itself is run down. Bed is knackered. Curtains hanging off. It seems clean I guess, but when it looks tired and smells rotten it just feels mucky. Glad I'm only here for the night and it's a work trip. Had this been for anything else, I would have been very unhappy and would have left. Haven't bothered calling reception about it as I heard them on the phone saying they had no rooms left tonight. If you are staying here for a night out and somewhere just to sleep then it's fine but anything else, it's just not up to standard. There is a Travel Lodge across the road, wish I had booked that instead. Actually had a nice sleep though. However I Wouldn't stay again :(
