Very good venue re sizei.e. fairly small and therefore visibility of the artists performing was very good, ditto sound quality. The cafe OK but very limited range of hot food.

A grade 2 listed building in Camden which is home to choral and folk music. My first visit made me feel quite at home. There is no pretentiousness. Easy to book, easy to find, great staff. In the downstairs cafe you mix with fellow music lovers and with the artistes. In the evening the food menu is a little sparse - sausage rolls and great cakes make up for this. Nearest tube is Camden Town. 274 bus glides by outside.

The bands here are exceptionally good. The callers are always very thorough and informative. I have been folk dancing all my life, and it is nice to dance with such great dancers as the ones that come here. Cecil Sharp is also a place for newcomers to the folk world though, no prior folk dancing is required to come to one of their knees up. If one wanted a refresher in ceilidh dancing or wanted to learn the basics one could go to their pre-knees up dance lesson. All info on their website. The beer at their bar is really quite good, they usually have Wandle, and another beer. Their cider is good too, though they have recently stopped stocking a particular cider which I very much liked. All in all Cecil sharp house is an amazing place to come for a night out, and a fantastic place for a drink.

Went to a fantastic Ceilidh here! The music from the live band was fantastic, the caller was a great host, the crowd were fun and varied and everyone got involved. Downstairs the drinks were reasonably priced and there's plenty of areas to take a break and cool down. Great night out with friends!

I went for a fundraising boxing event so the crowd got a bit rowdy and aggressive, but I saw how the space could be used for a lot of different functions or creative pop-up ideas. It's big enough that you could host a dance party but humble enough that it still feels somewhat like a community hall. The canteen selling sausage rolls and home baked cookies right near the older group of people learning Irish dancing really topped it off.
