About Venue

We founded Grain & Glass (formerly The Whisky Club) to create a community for whisky lovers. Starting out as a tasting events company in 2011, and popping up in venues around the city, we knew we were onto something special. In 2018 we opened the doors to our first venue so we could expand our offering and give a home to all our tasting events. We want to make whisky more approachable and change how people view it, and through our bar selection, helpful staff and our tasting events, we think we do this.

The Birmingham Whisky Club has been an institution in our city for almost 10 years. One of the first whisky clubs around, we're now one of many around the country and pride ourselves on being part of such a vast community of whisky lovers. Our Club has become home to those aficionados local to the city, and the bar its hub.

In our bar, lounge and tasting room you'll find a library of over 300 open whiskies, an extensive list of cocktails and other drinks, as well as a unique range of bookable private tastings and unique experiences. All served and hosted by knowledgable and passionate staff in our hidden-gem of a space in The JQ.

We ordered a takeaway lunch for a large group with some tricky dietary restrictions, and Neda was incredibly accommodating. Every single meal was beautifully presented — well-packed, thoughtfully decorated, and absolutely delicious. It was a huge hit in the office, and Grain Kitchen has definitely become one of our favourite lunch spots!

Sounds like a cliche but the food was fresh, tasty and healthy....but on a whole new level! I opted for the Japanese Bowl with teriyaki salmon. The salmon was cooked to perfection, had a lovely piquancy and was beautifully supplemented with some gorgeous asian vegetables. Good portion size too. Considering it was a take away dish, it was nicely presented as well. Bonus! Add polite staff and quick service into the mix and you have a recipe for success and deliciousness. So good, I reckon a visit to Grain will be my new lunchtime treat when I'm in the area.
