Located in the heart of Birmingham, The Botanist (Gas Street Basin) is a short walk from New Street Station, Broad Street or Symphony Hall. This extensive venue is split across two floors, each with its own bar and dining areas, and boasts one of the best beer gardens in the city centre (as voted in 2019).

With multiple private dining rooms throughout, this is the perfect setting for any special occasion and unforgettable parties. The deliciously casual menu is designed with you in mind, so you can feel like you’re eating your favourite home-cooked meal just without the fuss. You need a reservation to dine inside as it gets very busy. The starters we had beforehand were absolutely delicious. However, I can’t say the same for the sirloin steak, it was supposed to be medium but arrived very overcooked, most likely due to the kitchen being under heavy pressure. To make up for it, they kindly offered us dessert on the house.

One of the best restaurants in Birmingham! We had an amazing time there with my friends ! Excellent food and exceptional service from all the staff there! Would definitely recommend this restaurant to everyone and I will definitely visit again soon. Thank you all for making our day so beautiful!

I visited here a couple of weeks ago for the Sunday roast with my mum. We both had the roast beef and it was absolutely delicious. We ordered 3 of the sides and the only thing I would say was the staff should’ve informed us that the cauliflower cheese dish handle was very hot, otherwise we have no other complaints. A lovely meal out with delicious food and a wonderful choice of cocktails 🍸

We stopped in for my daughters Birthday... Had a nice meal, all of my family enjoyed the hanging kabobs but my fish and chips was not as nice as I've had in the past. May have been a bad choice seeing as their clame to fame seems to be the kabobs or the sausage and mash (that my daughter loved). Took very good care of us and my sons nut allergy... very thankful!

Went on Saturday 2pm and they had plenty of tables available indoors downstairs. Speaker system was fantastic indoors to stream the musician’s live music at the porch outside. Very lovely staff too. Food wise, I ordered the Chicken Schnitzel and my friend got a chicken burger. The schnitzel was smaller than I thought for the price and was quite dry. Had to douse it in the mint sauce which was thankfully fantastic if you love mint. My friend really enjoyed their burger and it did look fantastic. The fries have a garlic seasoning on it which was pretty decent too. I wouldn’t mind coming back again. Saw a table got the kebab which looks really good, would like to try that next time.
