Holiday Inn Brighton Seafront

My second visit to the Holiday Inn Brighton for work. Large hotel on the sea front, with reasonable priced rooms. First warning point, the car park has the smallest spaces, I understand space is at a premium, but if you drive anything bigger than a Juke, you are going to struggle. Reception staff were friendly and check in was easy and straightforward. Room on the 4th floor, was a little rough around the edges, air con didn't work and a fan was provided, although the plug it was plugged into didn't work unless the light was switched on 🤷‍♀️. But it was functional, comfortable enough, quiet and in a good location

Overall good stay, rooms were clean but not sound proof, I could easily hear next door high voice. Toilets were clean too. Parking available ground allotment and access from street side of building from back. 24hours charge is £25. Staffs were friendly during my stay. Only 1 lift working Breakfast was standard. Good seating area with good views.

I booked a premium Seaview room with balcony at this hotel for our wedding anniversary. I chose this as it advertised air conditioning in the rooms and we were bringing our dog who gets overheated with her fur coat. Check in was at 4 pm but the front desk kindly let us check in a bit sooner. The first room 410 had 2 interconnecting doors on either side of the room so would have been noisy. The air-conditioning was not working and neither was the phone so room service could not be ordered. I went down to change rooms. At first they sent their maintenance guy who tried resetting the AC but it still showed a spanner sign for service. So reception gave us 308. Again this too had no air-conditioning or working phone. I went down and manager Elena was very apologetic and gave us options for resolution. Both rooms had pedestal fans in the closet so I assume this is an ongoing problem with the air conditioning. We kept the windows and balcony door open with the fan running to keep the dog cool. As we booked the dinner and breakfast rate, we ate in the dining areas and wow the food was amazing! Huge 3 course dinner portions and the breakfast had delicious hot sausages, mushrooms, tomatoes etc but the coffee from the machine was not so good. As long as you go on a day that is not too hot, the view from the balcony makes this room worthwhile. Do not expect air-conditioning. Also use the stairs as the one working lift rumbled and was very noisy in operation. Hotel room 308 had the best seaview of Brighton we have ever seen.
