Attended a free event via Eventbrite for a tour or the building. We got so lucky inasmuch as the other people didn’t turn up and that meant that the two of us had the guide, Craig, undivided attention. The building is stunning inside and out. I was completely unaware of any of the history but the sheer importance of the people who have been involved over the years blew me away. From its inception and the important role for Minnie James in the opening thru the years to today, the importance of women in its history is simply astonishing. Who knew that delegation of Welsh women would travel to US just after WW2 and began a course of events that culminated in the start of the United Nations. Beneath the building is the crypt that contains the remembrance book and each day the pages are turned. We were honored to have been involved in the ceremony and that is a memory I will be for ever grateful. Craig was clearly passionate about the building and its history and I couldn’t imagine a better guide and host.
