We didn’t stay over so can’t comment on the rooms but if they’re of the same standard as they are the restaurant/bar area it is amazing! The staff were very helpful and the food/drinks were delicious! We stopped in for a coffee and sausage/bacon butty before we set off for the Santa dash, we had our dog and they were very dog friendly, which was lovely and unexpected as the place is quite posh. Will definitely be back for more food and would recommend this as a hotel for all our dog lovers.

Not the best. No-one to greet you, or check everything was ok. The afternoon tea comes out the moment you sit down and you can tell it's been sat there for hours. Barely any fillings in the sandwiches and really not a lot for the money. Everyone else looked unhappy as well so not a great atmosphere either.

We booked the afternoon tea in advance for Saturday afternoon because of the good reviews. We arrived a few minutes prior to our reservation and waited a while to been seen to. The man who showed us to our table made a hash of trying to find our reservation and then said "sorry, this isn't my usual job." He asked if we would like some water for the table (we said yes) and then we never saw him, or the water again. The restaurant wasn't busy, but there were tables either side of ours that were still covered in crockery and food from the guests who had left before we were seated. 15 minutes after being seated, we were asked what we would like to drink and the drinks were bought out after about 10 minutes. I asked one of the servers if there was any chance of having the dirty tables cleared and she didn't seem too happy to have been asked but did it reluctantly despite not being busy. The food was delivered about 15 minutes after the drinks and was OK. Not the best afternoon tea I've never had, nor was it the worst. Nobody ever came back to the table to check that everything was ok with the food or to see if we were ok for drinks. We had to go and find a member of staff to ask for the bill.
