Located just on Edinburgh’s city centre doorstep, surrounded by luscious, enchanting woodland, Melville Castle is the perfect setting for your wedding. We invite our guests to spend time in the beautiful, tranquil setting of the historic and characterful castle.
When you arrive at the historic castle, you will receive a warm, red carpet welcome. From start to finish, your special day will unfold seamlessly with our dedicated and experienced team on hand. They will be available to assist and support you throughout your plans and preparations to ensure everytthing runs smoothly.
The hotel is licensed to hold civil ceremonies and partnerships with up to 90 guests. Our ceremonies can take place in the delightful garden area or the spectacular ballroom. For your wedding breakfast, we can accommodate up to 70 guests in the Viscount room. If you have a longer guest list, we can accommodate your event in our permanent marquee.
Melville Castle is available for exclusive use, allowing you and your guests to make the most of the whole venue for your big day.
When your day comes to an end, our beautiful Bridal Suite offers the perfect place to spend your first night of married life. Your guests can also find accommodation in one of our 32 bedrooms. The following morning, you can enjoy a delicious Scottish breakfast in the dining room.

We had the most amazing time during our honeymoon staying at this wonderful castle. During our whole trip we were looking forward to staying here and it delivered beyond all expectations. You can expect cosy comfort in the bar, hearty food in the restaurant and beautiful strolls around the grounds as well as a few cute furry friends to meet. Also - do not miss out on their upstairs billiards room, so much fun and a great way to end the night. We so loved our time here and would recommend the castle to anyone.

A wonderful, charming castle in a beautiful setting. It's worthy of a movie and perfect for weddings. A wedding was also taking place while we were staying there. It's a beautiful property with fantastic, authentic rooms—exactly what you'd expect if you wanted to stay in a castle in Scotland. It's a beautifully decorated, modernly renovated hotel that hasn't lost any of its original charm. Access is very easy, and there's plenty of parking. The outdoor area behind the house is also beautiful and truly idyllic. The surrounding village has everything you may need.

So unbelievably beautiful, very clean and extremely kind, friendly and helpful staff! Our room was adorable, they went above and beyond in everyway. We really enjoyed every second of our stay and the hiking trails around the grounds were fabulous as well. Could we have asked for more? No we certainly could have not! I also really really appreciate that dogs were not in the breakfast area as I much prefer to not eat with them near me, thank you so much for thinking of people who don't want to share a room with dogs while dining! This extra touch really made my breakfast in their beautiful breakfast room so much more relaxed, hygienic, and enjoyable! We ended up staying four nights and the breakfast was amazing, they are very happy to adjust to your requests.

Lovely walks along the river. Quaint historic castle. Staff were superb. Food was wonderful … all other fish and chip servings will fare badly in comparison. We had been travelling for ages and needed the rest.
