About Venue
The Queen is in residence at the Palace of Holyroodhouse during Holyrood week, which usually takes place from the end of June to the beginning of July. Then the Scottish variant of the Royal Standard of the United Kingdom is flown, and the Royal Company of Archers forms Her Majesty's ceremonial bodyguard.
The Queen received His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI at Holyroodhouse during The Pope’s official visit to the UK in September 2010. The gift presented by His Holiness to Her Majesty, a facsimile of the Lorsch Gospels, is on display at the Palace.

An amazing palace. Lots of history, beautiful architecture, a great gift shop plus the chapel ruins and gardens are marvelous. So much to see. And good coffee in the Cafe.

This is an excellent tour to take while in Edinburgh. Tickets are best purchased online and in advance. There's a comprehensive and easy to use audio guide that comes with the ticket ... The palace and abbey have a rich Scottish and British history. Events surrounding Mary, Queen of Scots, to Queen Elizabeth II have been impacted by Holyrood. No pictures are allowed inside but you can take plenty of pics outdoors. There are beautiful gardens too.

I REALLY enjoyed this experience, even more than Edinburgh Castle. It's MUCH LESS CROWDED and you really get a feel for the palace and how grand it really is. Knowing they still visit here and stay here is also sort cool and the grounds are INSANELY beautiful.

The best way is to buy tickets in advance or buy a package with hop on and off bus as the tickets are guaranteed entry, pre booked. It's kinda lots of people, despite its Monday afternoon. Anyway, it is worth visiting. It's strictly prohibited to take photos inside the palace, so i can only post the area around. Enjoy coming as it's full of history. The Royal Botanical Garden is stunning 😍

Don’t think it was worth the cost of admission compared to some other attractions I’ve been to. I took my time and still only spent about an hour here. Got there early and was probably one of the first 50 people in line so got to enjoy some of the rooms by myself for a bit which was great. Loved that they automatically give you the audio tour. There’s maybe 10 or so rooms that you get to walk through so it goes by quickly.
