A truly unforgettable stay at The Balmoral and the best massage of my life! From the moment I arrived at The Balmoral in Edinburgh, I felt like I was in gracious hands. The hotel’s historic grandeur and impeccable location are just the start of what makes it special. Spa & wellness highlight One of the highlights of my stay was the spa. I’ve had massages around the world, but the treatment I received at The Balmoral was easily one of the most restorative and skillful I’ve ever experienced. (Rare to say that!) Jet lag, tea & kindness I arrived battling jet lag, and one evening I found myself lingering in the lobby with a bit of fatigue and disorientation. That’s when Ionel and Phillip from the night crew took over—and what an absolute blessing. They brought me a soothing cup of tea, checked in on me, and made me feel seen and welcomed. Their kindness turned a groggy moment into a highlight of my trip. Service, comfort & character Every inch of The Balmoral whispers luxury and attention to detail. The rooms are elegant, well curated, and comfortable, and throughout my stay the staff offered service that felt truly heartfelt. The only thing I would change is I could hear the other room through a connecting door in the room, so sounds can travel through those adjoining room doors. Food Number one was amazing and the raspberry soufflé was perfect! The breakfast buffet was awesome! Overall If you want to stay somewhere that feels like a destination in itself, The Balmoral delivers. Between the spa, the unexpected kindness, and the historic beauty, this is one of those stays I’ll remember for years. Highly recommended.

The best hotel I have ever experienced. They balance luxury and friendly in a wonderful way. Staff are helpful and always seem in good mood. Location is perfect. Tasting menu in Number One restaurant is great. Would definitely revisit again.

This is a special place. A throwback to true first class service, complemented by every modern luxury one could ask for. Number One, the Michelin Star style restaurant is expertly done. Traditional excellence. Matthew, the sommelier, is as knowledgeable as they come with plenty of personality to go with his expansive wine knowledge. Ross, Curtis, and Mike in Scotch will regale you with true passion for whisky and plenty of laughs. Can not recommend this hotel enough.

Lovely hotel centrally located in Edinburgh. Spotless. Elegant. Staff was exceptionally courteous and efficient. Had to leave early due to incoming storm threatening our exit flight. Gave six hours notice but had to pay for the last day per their cancellation policy. Would’ve appreciated the courtesy of forgiving the last day considering the circumstances. Nonetheless, would stay there again on our next trip to Edinburgh

Overall not a bad hotel, however, if staying in the high season I do not see the value for the price. There are plenty of other hotels in the city that are better value. Pros The hotel location is central. The front desk staff and the restaurant team were great. Good check in experience and first night at the hotel. The room was nicely decorated and clean. Cons Noise level extreme, if there are events being held in the hotel with loud music. There was a wedding going on and we could hear music past 12:00 a.m., in our room more than 3 floors up -disappointing given how much you are paying. Likewise, the first room we were in had an adjoining room door in it with extremely noisy when other guests moved into the room beside us - again at the price you are paying this is disappointing. ( I will give credit to the front desk team as I called and they moved us to a different room pretty quickly). Some staff were really great, however customer service was mixed and not consistent. Garbage was left by the elevator for 2 days without being cleaned and a robe in the room had dark brown residue on it. Recommendation If you would like to stay here, perhaps stay during the week and in down season, for a quieter experience.
