The staff are stellar...funny personable helpful. We had a couple of needs and staff went way over what was expected. The building simply oozes with slightly understated elegance. The Hilton group has done a fantastic job maintaining a large part of the integrity of the building by not replacing the old doors and leaving dents and divets in much of the woodwork around the hotel. The buffet breakfast was typical but the breakfast ordered off the menu was very good. One morning i ordered an omellete with everything they offered save the jalapeño. The eggs were cooked thru and well, not always a guarantee in many countries. But most important, all of the ingredients were mixed into the eggs prior to cooking. Call me persnickety if you will, but that made the experience perfect. Most omellete chefs simply fold the cooked egg over the veg and meats and voila, an omelette is born. For me, that omellette made my day as I left for the real Mary's close. Stay here if you can...Im a platinum level Hilton Honors member and this is not your parents Hilton....check it out and you will understand. If your travels do not allow a stay here, stop in for afternoon tea in the main central atrium area. It is lovely. And if your lucky, you will meet Lucas? I believe his name is.....if he senses youre the playful sort, you will find yourself quickly trying to process his wit and dry sense of humor. A delightful stay in a very central location, with epic views of the castle..

Fantastic hotel in the heart of Edinburgh. We booked a room through Amex Fine hotel’s collection & the hotel went above & beyond to make our romantic couple stay special. We received a complimentary upgrade with a stunning view of the castle & a delightful handcrafted chocolate bar with the castle imprinted on it. The hotel architecture is regal & staff is lovely. They also arranged an exclusive whiskey tasting for us with just a mention - special shoutout to Ruaridh & Ellis. After a long hike our feet were hurting & they immediately provided us an ice pack. It’s true 5 star hospitality. Only small drawback was the service can be quite slow during breakfast but they were gracious enough to cater our needs. Caledonian is one of our best hotel experiences ever.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The Curio Caledonian Edinburgh — A Stunning New Chapter! Absolutely thrilled to see the new Curio brand come to life at The Caledonian Edinburgh! I had the pleasure of attending a private dinner hosted by their wonderful Sales team in partnership with HelmsBriscoe — and what an unforgettable evening it was. 👨‍🍳 Compliments to the Chef - every dish was a masterpiece, beautifully presented and bursting with flavour. The attention to detail and creativity truly stood out. Beef cooked to perfection and the seafood was amazing! 🍸 The New Cale Bar is a total vibe! The transformation is incredible - Inspired by Japan’s Jazz Kissa bars, think listening lounge meets sophisticated Edinburgh elegance. The separate entrance is such gives it that hidden-gem exclusivity. 🛏️ And those beds... unbelievably comfy! The rooms feel luxurious yet welcoming — I honestly can’t wait to go back. A huge thank you to the team for such a memorable experience. The Curio Caledonian is an absolute must-visit. Edinburgh’s hospitality scene just got even better! 🌟

The quality of the pastry served for the afternoon tea is fabulous, sophisticated and truly a work of art. It should however be served at the same time as the finger sandwiches in order to give the guest the choice of alternating sweet and salted selection. By the time the sweets were served after we repeatedly asked for them, we had little appetite left. We asked for a take way bag and we were immediately given a foldable box to do it ourselves. Tea was served but it took time to get milk and sugar. The next table left by previous clients well before we had arrived stayed uncleared until we left. There is space for improvement in the service . Definitely not matching the expectations and the standards we were accostumed to all over Edinburgh’s luxury hotels...

Booked the castle terrace suite....there is no terrace no balcony just a small room. With a sitting area. I was told they had this issue before with other guests thinking it had a terrace. They obviously have not fixed the false advertising. The windows that are supposed to provide a castle view were disgustingly dirty. The shampoo pump didn't work I had to unscrew cap to get the shampoo. Apart from all that I did not get into my room until 5:53pm because the guest before me had a late 4pm checkout. No offer to upgrade me. All they did was offer me 75 .00 resort credit and 260.00 off my room rate. I paid $2600.00 US for this room a complete ripoff. Caledonian should learn what real rooms and service is from the Balmoral which I usually stay at. Stick with marriott properties. Hilton is on its way down in service quality and values per dollar. Apart from it all mini bar is an empty refrigerator. Bathroom was tiny... I can go on and on how this isn't worth the money.
