We found this hotel for our summer vaction through Google and were directly in love with the photos of this old and historic building and it's wonderful countryside. But the view in person was even better! The rooms are wonderful and romantic, the staff is more than heartwarming and did everything they could to make our stay wonderful. In all my years I n ever have seen such passion for their job! The restaurant and breakfast are simply amazing and I had the best Egg Benedict in my life! I can only recommend this hotel for vacation, marriages and a nice weekend if you are looking for something simply amazing!

Visited for afternoon tea. The house is beautiful. The room were the tea was served is in a more modern part of the hotel. My friend had been in earlier to decorate the table for a friend's surprise baby shower. The food was super fresh & very, very nice. The staff accommodating, happy & chatty. Would visit again & recommend.

We were visiting family in the area, so we only stayed overnight on a Saturday with our dog. The hotel itself is a mix of old stately home/manor house, with a slightly more modern extension for additional rooms etc. It's beautiful, clean and very well presented. The room we had, 212, was very spacious with everything you would expect, tea/coffee facilities, fabulous shower, and big TV. There is a balcony that runs the length of the building separated by dividers for each room. It offers a small table and a couple of chairs. Small Dog Warning: Anything the size of a Shizou/Boarder Terrier can carry out cross balcony raids at will. Luckily, my daughter was on one side when he paid her a visit. Used a chair to block off the other side. The one downside of the room is the heat. I know its been warm, but the rooms have large freestanding water cooling fan, which didn't really do a great deal except blow air the bed. Luckily there is also a ceiling fan, which combined made it ok. Not A/C cold but ok. The staff are really friendly and helpful, nothing was a bother. Although we didn't use the restaurant at night, we did for breakfast, and it did look good. I only eat cereal, so easily pleased, but the menu has all sorts for everyone's needs. Even the dog got a couple of sausages. Oh again, small point, not a problem, if you take your dog to the restaurant, there are outside covered tables, you have to use. Getting to the hotel proved entertaining. Satnav and my wife's own recollections of working at the University Childrens Day Nursey were foiled in part by the roadworks in the area, but we got there in the end. Once there, parking was easy, plenty of spaces, and the grounds are lovely, especially for walking the dog. My only very minor complaint is, as a dog friendly place, bins for the dog waste are very hard to find, could do with a few more. Overall, would I go back, yes, and recommend to anybody visiting the area.

Had afternoon tea today. Its a lovely building and the food was fantastic. Our waitress Mo was great. She made the event special with her positive attitude and infectious smile. Well done Mo you made it special. The restaurant manager was attentive and very friendly. Although we arrived 15 mins early the lady gave us a drink and made us feel relaxed. My only observation is they need a new window cleaner. The restaurant was very clean but the windows looked like they where cleaned with dirty water. Well done to all the staff for a special day.
