March 2025The arthouse is certainly one of the more fancy looking hotels I've stayed in. A modern but classic kinda feel to the rooms make it very homely. Still not 100% sure how I feel about the old style cage lift but my wife loved it. Service from the receptionist was great even when I found out the wife had accidentally booked for the next month and not the day we turned up, still gave us the room and avoided disaster. Only thing stopping the full 5 star review is the bar staff that served us was either very very new or simply wasn't bar trained, she was still nice though. Would happily stay here again, definitely a place to stay for a couple days rather than just the night

April 2025They have a discount code for the q park across the road but you can only use the code if you pre-book. This information is found out as I was checking in and had already parked. £27 later. Room was in a clean state. Old style lift is a nice feature. Perfect hotel if you are on a city break and are walking to places.

May 2025I stayed at ArtHouse Hotel for 2 nights in May 2025. The historic building, the original lift and the high ceilings were stunning and made me feel like having a private apartment. Small but cosy rooms with a comfortable bed. Lack of details in the forniture (a bit scratched and dated), the closet (way too small) and the TV (also dated with channels not working). Ok for short stays but annoying for longer periods. I had breakfast included: food is fresh and of good quality (a 7/10 for what you could expect in a 4*). The problem was the service: waitress were extremely slow and inexperienced. We had to wait 45mins to be served breakfast at the table. Below the standards of a 4*. Overall my experience was positive but there are a few things to be improved.

April 2025Hotel staff, breakfast and location are nice. The rooms overall are fine but cleanness and privacy could be better. We went out to a day trip with the do not disturb sign on the door. Came back to the sign inside, our stuff moved around in the room and hair and dental floss on the bathroom floor and the bathtub. Feels weird that the staff and time to move our stuff but not properly clean.

May 2025Unexpectedly the pictures definitely make the place look better than it is and I hastily booked without checking out the reviews. I guess it is a charming wee hotel and the lift an interesting feature however I probably wouldn't stay here again. The original room we were allocated wasn't the cleanest and having what appeared to be pubic hair in the bath was slightly off-putting. We were upgraded to a new room which appeared much cleaner but as others have said the bathrooms are dated. Location was perfect for us and the event we were attending, and luckily it was only an overnight. Personally, if you are considering this hotel you may want to just book a premier inn or travel lodge instead since you know what to expect for the cost. I'm also surprised no-one has mentioned the weird smell that seems to be around once you have used your card to get through the first doors to the corridor of rooms as well as the rooms themselves. This was prevalent in both floor 3, the room and floor 2 and the upgraded room. The windows in the room do not open and the air con is just a con as the room was warm and had no air all night, as well as the constant noise of the machine meant we were unable to sleep at all. We left at 8am, and the blast of fresh air when leaving the hotel is a feeling of relief we will never forget! Staff were nice and personable so no faults there.
