What’s included in the venue hire price?

Hiring Il Salotto exclusively means you have our entire 4th-floor venue in Glasgow’s Merchant City just for you. This 330 sqm loft-style space comes fully furnished with stylish, modern Italian décor – think plush sofas, a large dining/conference table, and flexible seating arrangements. Included in your hire is use of our fully equipped kitchen (great for cooking demos or catering staging), high-speed Wi-Fi, and audio-visual equipment as requested (we can provide a projector and screen or flat-screen TVs, plus a sound system for background music). We also include on-site venue management – one of our team will be present to help with any setup, tech, or questions throughout your event. Essentially, the price covers the private use of the space and all its amenities – from natural light and park views to the furniture and base tech. We make sure it’s a turnkey experience.

Does the venue provide catering, or can I bring my own food and drinks?

We offer very flexible catering arrangements at Il Salotto. We do have preferred catering partners who can deliver anything from canapés to multi-course dinners in the space. Our kitchen is fully functional, so chefs can cook on-site. External catering is allowed as well – if you have a specific caterer or want to self-cater (for example, a cooking class or home chef experience), that’s absolutely fine. You can also bring in your own drinks – we don’t charge corkage, since this is a dry hire-style venue. If you’d like us to handle food and beverage, we’re happy to; if you’d prefer to bring your own caterer and stock the fridge with your prosecco, that’s welcomed too. Just let us know your plan so we can support with any logistics (like helping outside caterers get set up).

Can I decorate or brand the venue for my event?

Yes – Il Salotto is designed as a beautiful yet neutral backdrop, which you can certainly style to your liking. You’re free to move furniture around, display branding, hang signage or artwork (we just ask to use gentle hanging methods to not mark walls), and generally transform the space for your event. Because it’s a self-contained floor with privacy, corporate clients often brand the entrance and interior, and private clients add decor like flowers, balloons, candles etc. The room has lots of natural light and white walls, making it ideal for adding colored lighting or projections as well. In short, please do personalize the environment – the space can go from a clean studio look to a cozy dinner setting or a branded product launch effortlessly. Our only guideline is to avoid anything permanent or that could damage the high-end finishes. We can also arrange for our staff to help with setup if needed.

Is the venue accessible, and does it have parking or nearby transport links?

Il Salotto is located on the 4th floor of a building accessible via lift, so yes, it is accessible by elevator. The building has a modern lift right from the ground floor lobby up to Il Salotto. The venue itself is one level with wide entry doors, so wheelchair access or mobility access is straightforward. As for location, we’re on Bell Street in Merchant City, Glasgow – that’s central and well-connected. Glasgow Queen Street Station is about a 10-minute walk, and Argyle Street station (and St Enoch subway) are also within a few blocks. There is limited on-street parking in the area (pay-and-display) and a couple of car parks (NPC King Street) within a 5-minute walk. It’s a city centre location, so public transport or taxis tend to be easiest. If someone needs to drop off equipment or so, they can pull up briefly at the building entrance. In summary, it’s quite accessible both in terms of the venue itself and getting here.

What is the venue’s pricing structure – e.g. minimum spend, dry hire, or package options?

Il Salotto is typically offered as a dry hire space with an hourly or daily rate. As a guide, it starts from about £150 per hour (with a minimum number of hours depending on the event). A full day (like 9am-5pm) might be roughly £800-£1000, and an evening or full-day into evening might be around £1500. These are indicative – we adjust pricing based on factors like weekday vs weekend, and how many staff or setup we might need to assist with. There’s no minimum spend on catering since you are welcome to bring in your own or use ours. If you go through us for catering, we’ll simply add those costs on top of the room hire. We can also create a package if you prefer – for instance, “Venue hire + welcome drinks + grazing platters for X guests = £Y”. But our base model is transparent dry hire of the space, then add what you need. We aim to be very straightforward: you rent the space (and know that cost), and you have the freedom to allocate budget to food and drink as you see fit. Don’t hesitate to contact the host for a detailed quote tailored to your event – we’re quite flexible and can often work around your budget or service needs to make it work for you.
