Stayed here for a few nights away, the hotel is idyllic and beautiful a gorgeous setting. Electric chargers a huge bonus ! Spa is fabulous so relaxing and peaceful really enjoyed all the features ...the only one area I didn't quite get was the tepidarium, it just felt like a slightly warmer room ? The rooms themselves very nice and comfortable, fantastic they are dog friendly as well. No air-conditioning was the only downside but its rarely needed in the UK, so can understand it not being installed. We loved seeing the resident cat at breakfast and the food was really nice We will definitely be back when next in the area. Already looking forward to using the spa again !!

First of all, we booked the bridal suite, as it was the only room available for the dates we needed. The location is amazing, quiet and not too far from Cheltenham, which is where we were spending our evenings. The evening meals were good, no complaints, however we asked to pay for the additional price rather than it being added onto our room, this was possible for the first night but the server said it wasn't possible the second so I'm not sure how that works. Other than that, the evening meals were amazing. Can't say the same for the breakfasts, very poor choices and extra charges if you want anything bigger than two slices of bread with one piece of bacon. Also we spilt our coffee on the table and were left to clean it up ourself with a piece of tissue paper for about five minutes before anyone came over to help even after we had asked for it and were extremely apologetic about the spilt drink. In regards to staff, those who were serving us in the night were fantastic and so were the reception, however the morning staff didn't seem to care too much about us. The room itself was lovely, however I don't think it would be my choice of bridal suite the second day we were woken up to some sort of maintenance being done right outside the window, but for a quick trip it was perfectly suitable. The spa was amzing, clean and can't fault it. Would recommend booking spa sessions in advance as we couln't book it on the day we arrived as it was all full unfortunately! Lastly, when we arrived the room was spotless, couldn't find a fault, however on our second day we had requested room cleaning. We were out from 10am-4:30pm and assumed it would had been cleaned, however it wasn't, so we thought we could just go to the spa and hopefully it would be done when we came back. Whilst getting our swim suits together the cleaning staff knocked on our door, when we asked if they could return in ten minutes after we left the room they said they couldn't and our room just didnt end up being cleaned which was a shame. Overall the hotel wasnt AWFUL, however for the £700 price point, plus the extra money we had paid for drinks and the extras on breakfast it definitely isn't worth it. I am sure you can find amazing local hotel at a similar price point that would be more suitable.

Booked the Charles Allen-Jones room, great size and lovely room, the shower and bath area could do with an upgrade, definitely seen better days. The room was also very hot, I feel a fan should be placed in the room for arrival instead of requesting one from reception, also a better standard of fan was needed, a standard desk fan did not help that much. The outdoor chess board was great for our daughter, and the gardens well kept. We was disappointed by a couple of rude and dismissive staff members, on arrival after a long drive we decided to have some lunch in the restaurant, when ordering my daughters food I mentioned that she has a nut allergy, to which the response was a chuckle followed by ‘I’m sure you’ll be fine with garlic bread, but I’ll check’ more training is needed on this, it’s not only the ingredients within the food ordered, but also the preparation area and utensils used. We ate again for our evening meal in the restaurant and the waitress that evening was very friendly and polite, the food was also delicious. We went for a swim in the afternoon, the staff member on the spa reception desk was very unfriendly and uninterested, didn’t look up at us and just really couldn’t be bothered. Such a shame as the building, food and setting is lovely, but we wouldn’t return or recommend due to the rudeness from the couple of staff members.

From the moment we arrived, the experience was less than expected of a four star hotel. While arriving at a hotel to find a wedding taking place is not in itself a problem, the noise levels late into the night (11:30pm and later) significantly impacted our ability to fall asleep. We were not pre-warned of the fact that there would be a loud event taking place just below our bedroom, or even offered to move somewhere out of earshot of the drum and bass that shook the room the entire night. There appeared to be no soundproofing in place at all, and with no air conditioning in the room or any form of fan, we were forced to choose between 32 degree heat with the windows closed, or loud music with the windows open. The room itself was disappointing (230), being hidden in an annex of sorts. The view consisted of a roof and industrial extractor units, rather than the picturesque surroundings that were advertised. The room was extremely hot, and despite requesting a fan to help with the lack of ventilation, we were informed there were none available. The television was impractically placed, making it impossible to enjoy from the bed. The bedsheets were ripped and pillows uncomfortable. Additionally, we were surprised by the minimal complimentary provisions in the room - including a single hot chocolate sachet for two guests. The spa, which was one of the main reasons for choosing your hotel, was unfortunately another source of frustration. The numerous rules, lack of clear communication from the spa staff, unavailability of treatments, and a hot tub that was out of order, made for an underwhelming and restrictive experience. Moreover, we found the attitude of one staff member at the spa desk to be unhelpful and dismissive. Our breakfast experience was the final straw. After waiting over 40 minutes without any service while staff appeared to ignore us, we left without eating. Overall, this stay fell far below the standards we expected for a four star establishment. We chose Hatherley Manor hoping for a relaxing and enjoyable break as a couple after a stressful few months, but instead left feeling disappointed and frustrated. After paying over £200 for the room and breakfast which we didn’t receive, an extra £110 for dinner, and £10 for hire of robes that should be included in the cost of a hotel and spa experience, we were extremely let down.

Be wary… I was reluctant to write a review at first, as I had hoped this situation could be resolved quickly with a refund and an open discussion about improving the website and being more transparent with customers. Sadly, I have been left with no choice. This was a very disappointing and costly spa package that bore little resemblance to what I had booked and paid for online. Treatments were cancelled without notice, my booking was altered without my consent, and communication from the spa staff was extremely poor. I have now been waiting over two weeks for a refund. Despite repeated follow-ups with the spa manager, I was passed on to the general manager, who has still not contacted me. Overall, I cannot recommend this spa. There are far better alternatives nearby that I have visited many times and would strongly suggest instead. Unfortunately, choosing this one was a big mistake.
