The food was sensational. All the staff were super friendly and helpful. The location was perfect We drew the short straw on room allocation. Rooms 21 to 25 are backed onto the staff car park which is noisy. Great old English pub vibes with luxury hotel appointments. We would definitely recommend The George.

We had a lovely two-day stay recently at The George in Haversage. Our room was large and spotlessly clean, and even though the window looked out on a busy road, we weren't disturbed by traffic noise. The cost per night was extremely reasonable, and the hotel staff were very friendly and efficient. We can also recommend the in-house restaurant: our dinners and breakfasts were all excellent.

Location, excellent. Wonderful building. Food, second to none, apart, maybe, for the triple-cooked chips. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Thank you for a lovely holiday. Should have added that they have a very good gluten-free menu!

Unfortunately quite under whelming. We booked here as the final stay on our Derbyshire road trip on the day of our 1st wedding anniversary. For £253 for the night we was expecting a bit of a treat, luxury stay (say in comparison to your usual stop overs in Inns) and we were excited on arrival. We were left feeling a little disappointed and a bit annoyed at the amount we had spent. We had stayed at a hotel in Castleton the night before that was over a £100 cheaper and a much better room in terms of comfort and facilities. It feels with this place the price tag is due to the location, not the quality of the room (for example 2 english tea bags and no conditioner in the bathroom for £253 seems a bit mad). We both woke up with stiff backs from how uncomfortable the bed was this morning. For the evening we had booked to eat in the pub restaurant. We ordered two Aperol Spritz that came barely orange that had been really watered down with soda water, and then waited over an hour from ordering for pie and mash. The pie was meant to be Steak and Ale, and the steak tasted good but there seemed to be no Ale and it was quite dry, there was also barely any veg with it, a tiny pot of gravy and one scoop of mash, which for nearly £20 seems insane. Understandably Saturday will be busy but we had waited 75 minutes last time my husband checked his watch , no one asked in this time if we would like anymore drinks or advised the kitchen was busy, and no one checked on our meal. We went up to bed after tea and left before breakfast as we thought the food may not be worth it and also didn't want to risk another wait for over an hour before hitting the road (reading reviews I can see this has happened to other guests). The duty manager was friendly, and she did give us a warm welcome, but generally this place, for us, was not good value for money at all and if this hadn't nt been part of a wider road trip, would have been a disappointment for our anniversary.

We have just got back from a night stay and would like to say the location is in a great place with free parking. We liked our room, but the bed was like sleeping on a board as it was really hard and the pillows are also to hard. The breakfast is of excellent quality, but there are a few issues I believe people need to be aware of. The English breakfast says sausages, but only give you one. I did bring it up with the waitress when ordering, so did get 2, but only gave my partner the one. The menu also doesn't mention cereal and after asking I was offered them. After being sat there for over an hour I never once heard the waitresses offer cereal, unless someone asked for them. There is no toast offered and never once was asked if we would like more drinks. The tea provided was very weak and had to ask for an extra tea bag for the pot. I have read some previous reviews over a month ago about breakfast and not being offering breakfast cereals, so looks like an ongoing thing. For the price to stay over all the things I have highlighted should be provided and customers shouldn't have to ask, maybe a new menu should be made to show what is supposed to be provided.
