Browns West India Quay is a brasserie and bar in a Grade I listed former sugar warehouse on Hertsmere Road at West India Quay in Canary Wharf, originally built in the 19th century by Napoleonic prisoners of war, and one of the most historically significant restaurant buildings in East London.
The venue spans two levels, with the main restaurant upstairs built around original low ceilings, timber pillars, exposed brick walls, and a grand sweeping staircase with chandelier above. Downstairs, the Cellar Bar retains the raw character of the old warehouse with exposed wooden beams, brass bar tops, fairy lights, leather booths, and its own private entrance from a separate courtyard. A large decked waterside terrace stretches in front of and alongside the restaurant, giving the venue a striking outdoor dimension with views across to Canary Wharf.
Two spaces are available for private hire: the Main Restaurant for group dining, and the Cellar Bar with courtyard for larger private and corporate events. The menu covers classic British brasserie dishes, set menus, drinks packages, buffets, and canapés, with the full cocktail and Champagne list available across both spaces.
West India Quay DLR station is 0.1 miles away, with Canary Wharf Elizabeth line, Jubilee line, and DLR 0.3 miles. Paid parking is available within 0.1 miles at West India Quay Car Park on Hertsmere Road. No decor or setup restrictions — a terrace is available.

The Cellar Bar is a semi-private hire space at Browns West India Quay on Hertsmere Road in Canary Wharf, with combined indoor and outdoor standing capacity for up to 300 guests or 110 seated.
This is the most distinctive hire option at the venue. The lower-ground space retains the raw atmosphere of the original 19th-century sugar warehouse, with exposed wooden beams, brass bar tops, leather booths, fairy lights strung between the beams, and its own private bar. A separate private entrance leads in from the courtyard, giving the group a self-contained arrival experience entirely separate from the main restaurant above. The courtyard itself adds outdoor capacity and works beautifully for summer parties, wedding receptions, and large corporate socials. Guests can connect their own playlist via the PA system. Bespoke event packages, drinks packages, buffets, and canapés are all available to arrange with the team.
