About Venue

Lurking in deepest leafy Chiswick, the original Little Bird will have flown under many a discerning drinker’s radar, more’s the pity. Landing on SW11’s prime bar strip, owner Lorraine Angliss should win the brand more admirers with her follow-up lounge. As before, Robinson Crusoe beachcomber-chic that could easily veer towards tiki-tacky in less confident hands sets the World of Interiors-worthy tropical private island scene for stylish cocktails. Limber up with All That Jazz, a Bellini that calls for vodka, Aperol and orange bitters. Dip into well-judged classics - Aviation, Boulevardier (basically, a bourbon Negroni) and Clover Club. Surrender to sweet signatures  - Strawberry and Rose Gin Fizz or Caledonian cobbler, Wisp in the Heathers (whisky, Grand Marnier, cinnamon, heather honey and orange juice). Largely affordable wines are what to order with Thai fish cakes; tuna sashimi ponzu and lime; pork dim sum; prawn green curry with sweet potatoes and grilled naan bread, or seared beef salad with cucumber and peanuts - mainstays of a menu that looks to Asia for inspiration and also offers chickpea and vegetable korma with toasted coconut among four dishes for those on meat and fish-free diets. Follow with pineapple carpaccio, coconut sorbet and harissa syrup or passionfruit cheesecake at this pretty new perch aimed more at urban peacocks and exotic birds than your average hen.

Nestled on bustling Battersea Rise sits the pretty Little Bird. With al fresco seating, fairy lights and greenery, this restaurant in Battersea is beautifully decorated. Think luxe beach shack chic with wood, brass and pops of colour! The restaurant comprises a bar area, low seating for a quick bite or some tables towards the back for lunch/dinner. Little Bird have an array of their own cocktails and we started with their signature offering, the Summer Bird (£9.95).We loved Dancing in the Moonlight (£9.95) with absolut vodka, kummel, homemade strawberry syrup, orange oil and orange bitters. a Little Bird offer a range of Asian inspired plates and bowls ideal for sharing. We went for: tuna sashimi & avocado with pickled ginger, wasabi & lime (£8.95) king prawn & avocado tempura with ponzu (£9.95) blackened cod fillet & miso aiolo (£12.95) fresh crab arancini with lemon aioli (£8.95) We loved the prawn & avocado tempura with huge, fresh juicy prawns. The rich creamy avocado in the lightest crispiest batter made for a seriously moreish dish. The blackened cod was also great – perfectly cooked with a tender flaky texture and complemented well by the miso aioli. The crab arancini (3 very generous sized balls) were also enjoyable and the crab was so fresh. The mini donuts with chocolate sauce and caramel (5.95) were recommended. They had a pillow-y soft inside perfect for dipping in the indulgent chocolate and caramel sauces. They were great as a sharing dessert! We also tried the elderflower posset with ginger sponge & almond biscotti (£5.95). The dessert was beautifully presented but a little too set in texture and not quite creamy enough for us! Little Bird restaurant in Battersea has a great selection of dishes and is easy to choose from whether you have meaty, seafood or vegetarian preferences. We particularly enjoyed the freshness of ingredients in each dish – they were well cooked and had punchy flavours as well as being beautifully presented. The interiors are worth a wander in for and would certainly make a great backdrop for a special occasion. We recommend popping in at happy hour too (5-7 weekdays) for a few of their cocktails and nibbles.
