About Venue

Grade I listed 19th Century almshouses, surrounded by tranquil gardens in Hoxton, minutes north of the City. The Geffrye Museum explores home and home life from 1600 to the present day through a series of evocative period London living rooms and gardens. The museum's green and peaceful setting and central location make it an ideal venue for receptions, cocktail parties, press launches, photo shoots and meetings.

The Studio is a versatile space for a range of events. Combined of 2 flexible areas, the main space is fully equipped with AV (projector, screen, sound system and microphones), and accommodating 80-100 guests, this is a wonderful room for corporate meetings, film clubs, memorials, or pop-up exhibitions alike. While it also makes an ideal space for social events due to its white walls and high ceilings - perfect for personalisation.
The second area of the Studio is a lobby area, which joins the main room and leads into the Gardens Through Time terrace via tall patio doors. The lobby is a natural refreshment area as it can be separated from the main room by a sound proof wall, leaving caterers able to set up your refreshments, lunches, bar etc without disturbing your guests.
During your meeting breaks or for photos at the party, your group will have access to the Gardens Through Time; our planted gardens showing the evolution of garden designs throughout the centuries.

What a great find! It's free and you see the inside of homes of actual people during different periods. If you are around stop by. I wouldn't make the trip just for the museum. And it's kids friendly. I think they were enjoying more than their parents 😜

Fantastic museum featuring rooms decorated as they would have been throughout the ages from the 1600s onwards. Some of the rooms had era appropriate noises and sound effects too which added to the feeling that you were stepping back through time. Each room has a wealth of information available about living in that time as well as detailed notes on items within the rooms. The gardens are also very pretty and peaceful. Very clean toilet facilities and wonderfully friendly staff! Overall a fantastic place to visit. Free with a suggested £5 donation.

A well-curated space that offers an interesting look at the history of home interiors. However, I found the atmosphere to be less peaceful than I’d hoped, as the museum is clearly very child-friendly 🤹‍♀️ There are play areas, reading spaces, and many children oriented interactive elements, which makes it an excellent choice for parents with young children... For those of us who prefer a quieter museum experience, the presence of so many small children can be a bit overwhelming, though.

Lovely free museum / art installations detailing what ‘Home’ is through the years. Spent around 2 hours or so here and thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. I would say it’s probably not the best place to bring young children for a day, there’s lots of reading and they might find it boring. There are a few fun tactile things for children however (kitchen play set, couple bits of dress up, garden) so it’s a good place to kill some time in a warm nice place! The gardens were class! Can spot some squirrels and sniff some herbs. Has a gift shop with some handmade and quirky bits.
