About Venue
Where this four-star property comes into its own for a Christmas party is its sheer variety of spaces for hire.
The most capacious are the hotel’s events suites, which were refurbished to the tune of £2m late last year. The Shannon Suite is where to book for sizeable standing affairs, or, if you’re catering to a food-first group, consider one of the hotel’s three restaurants. Our favourite is Bugis Street, which delivers an à la carte menu covering Singaporean, Malaysian, and Chinese cuisine for up to 40 seated guests. A handful more can then be added to the party for drinks over at the hotel’s colourful West 8 Cocktail Lounge and Bar, which opened in April 2015.

Great value for the price with excellent amenities. The staff were all lovely, and in particular Abdul was outstanding — he checked us in and really set the tone for a great stay. I also dropped my phone in the bar area and was so grateful that security had kept it safe for me to collect. Overall, a really positive experience.

Rooms are nice and well provided for, it’s a pity the heating didn’t work. Disappointed with the selection of the restaurants evening menu, very limited. I chose the £20 Irish Shepherd's pie, there was nothing Irish about it, I left hungry. My wife had the Chicken Caesar salad, it was presented with large whole lettuce leaves. Breakfast was done well with a lovely selection to satisfy most guests.

The location is great. The staff are friendly. The concierge, both Gulzar and Emil were especially helpful. I had a parcel (of marmalade) delivered to the hotel and was able to receive it after being away for one night. Being able to use the luggage storage service was helpful too. We were able to maximize our last day in London after checking out. The stay was pleasant and we would love to come back someday.

Only one comment…why all the power points along the floor line? No USB output. We had to boil water on the floor. Using our travel adaptor plug, our phones standard 1m length charging cable bearly long enough. Hope to see improvement… Mr. Mustafa at the lobby is nice and friendly 👍🏼
