Star By Hackney Downs, The Big Top

Popped in for a quick one in the afternoon not expecting anything but the usual pub fare but my expectations were completely exceeded. The service was great all around but we were particularly impressed by the Irish woman with the curly hair who was so patient with our indecisiveness and helped us land on some drinks that suited us best. Buzzy atmosphere and a nice little outdoor section which I imagine is lovely when the nice weather rolls around. We didn't have any food this time but the roasts looked amazing! Will definitely be back to try sometime soon 🙏✨️

We live just across the park and this is our second visit. The staff are lovely, and we came in for a Sunday roast. The food was fantastic— I had the chicken, which was absolutely delicious, and my husband had the pork, which he really enjoyed too. The only downside was that the vegetables and gravy were a little cold and could have been warmer. Overall, it’s a great atmosphere, and we’d love to make this our local. Can’t believe we didn’t try it sooner! We’ll definitely be back—pretty sure the cold bits were just a one-off, but wanted to mention it.
