The Royal Institution offers a Grade I-listed event space located right in the heart of Mayfair. With 9 remarkable events spaces on offer, the Royal Institution is the ideal choice for your next corporate meeting or evening soirée. The traditional Georgian architecture blends effortlessly with contemporary spaces, creating a unique and versatile backdrop for your next event. Boasting a 420-seat auditorium ideal for larger-scale conferences & presentations, the Royal Institution can also offer further spaces suitable for smaller forums, private dining, seminars, receptions and parties.

The Royal Institution is an independent charity dedicated to connecting people with science & innovation. All revenue generated from venue hire is donated back into our charity.

Working with our in-house catering supplier, Searcys, we have created a range of innovative and delicious menus to suit all occasions with a focus on providing modern, British & sustainable hospitality.

The stunning new glass atrium space provides a thoroughly modern alternative for a drinks reception. At its centre is a glass lift with the space opening out to the upper levels, flooding it with natural daylight to give the sense of being outside, yet sheltered from the British weather.

I've been aware of the Royal Institution for most of my life both from the Christmas television shows and the mentions Melvyn Bragg gave it on "In Our Time". It's a lovely building. There are lots of artefacts to grab your attention as you walk around the building and you do get a real sense of history. The most interesting part is the lower ground floor where the apparatus from several ground-breaking experiments is displayed.

Charitable organisation that aims to inspire public interest in science, an aim it achieves by opening its doors to visitors, who can freely explore its exhibitions. The most impressive of these is the Faraday Museum, dedicated to scientist Michael Faraday, who's 19th century discoveries helped shape the modern world. Faraday's magnetic laboratory is a key feature of the museum, laid out as it was in the 1850s. The museum covers some of the most important discoveries and advancements in scientific knowledge made at the RI over its history, and the scientists who made them. It's supported by detailed but accessible information displays and collections of artefacts. The famous lecture theatre, home of the televised Christmas Lectures, can be freely explored when events aren't running. The architecture of the building, its grand staircases and library all contributes to its appeal. Facilities are good, with a café and well maintained toilets. The building is open to visitors from 09:00 to 17:00 Monday to Friday, though access to some areas can be restricted when events are running.
