Selhurst Park, home to Crystal Palace Football Club, has a charm that feels different from the more modern Premier League stadiums. Situated in a quieter part of South London, it offers a more local and community-driven football experience. The journey to the stadium might feel a bit longer compared to other London grounds, but once you arrive, you notice how deeply rooted the club is in the neighbourhood. It’s not uncommon to see shop windows decorated with Palace flags and scarves, and many residents proudly wearing the club’s colours, even on non-match days, which speaks volumes about the loyalty and passion of the local fanbase. The stadium itself still carries the feel of a classic English football ground. It has an old-school layout with stands that differ in design and size, giving it a more traditional, asymmetrical look. This adds to the unique atmosphere, especially when match day comes and the crowd fills every corner with chants and songs. Unlike newer, more polished venues, Selhurst Park holds onto the raw authenticity that makes English football special. The surrounding streets are narrow and lined with houses, so as you approach, it almost feels like the stadium appears out of nowhere, tucked right into the heart of the community.

Stadium atmosphere is brilliant, probably the best in the premier league. The Holmesdale Road Stand has the closest thing to European ultras. The stadium itself is kept in relatively good shape. No complaints.

What can I say. After waiting eight years to return to the Premier league, I finally get the worst view I've had in decades. The away section makes Elland road look positively classy. Whilst talking to Palace supporters after the match, they said the stands at either end of the ground have great views of the pitch, this didn't improve my disappointment. The lack of decent drinking establishments around the ground doesn't help. Palace are a great club. The fans can create a great atmosphere. They are a strong, physical side (without being dirty), and have major silverware to display. Good luck in the future Eagles.
