Absolutely exceptional - our second Christmas party here and it won’t be the last! We returned for our second Christmas party and once again, the entire experience was outstanding. The staff were absolutely incredible - attentive, warm, and couldn’t have been more helpful throughout the evening. The food was fantastic. A special mention to the chef who flawlessly executed 24 perfectly curated meals - the broad menu offered something for everyone, and every dish was superb. The atmosphere was lovely, the drinks selection excellent, and the private room was perfect for our group. Honestly, this beats heading up to the West End any day - better food, better service, better value, and the bonus of easy parking. We had the most fantastic time and will definitely be back. Highly recommended!

Lovely atmosphere, solid menu, great flavours. I had Sunday dinner/lunch with friends, a group of eight in total. We had plenty of space as this venue is large, which is both a good and a bad thing. They didn't seem to have enough staff to keep up, which meant long waits between being able to order drinks/food. They also ran out of a number of key dishes and actually got two of the dishes they brought to the table completely wrong. However, the lady taking care of our table was perfectly polite and apologetic. She just seemed overrun and lacking in experience. I ordered the trio roast (Chicken, Beef & Pork), but they had ran out of pork so it was just a duo roast. However, the food was generous in portion and full of flavour. Everyone in our party thoroughly enjoyed their food and the general atmosphere of The Gatehouse was welcoming and fun, it was dog friendly too, which was lovely as we had two dogs with us. Also, we were not rushed off our table, despite how busy the venue was, so that is another plus. I would definitely visit again and recommend to friends, but just be aware that booking and arriving early is essential to avoid disappointment.

We had a lovely Christmas lunch. Wish we could have stayed a bit longer. The white chocolate & pistachio tart was incredible.

I have always considered The Gatehouse one of the very best Pubs in North London. The quality I experienced last Sunday was a shocking and deeply upsetting departure from the high standards I've always known. My Pork Belly Sunday Roast was a culinary joke. The pork, which should melt in your mouth, was a large, flavorless piece of rubber. The fat was hard and unrendered, and the crackling had the chew of an elastic band—a complete failure of basic technique. The disappointment continued with the Black Squid Paella. Arriving in just 15 minutes, it was clearly pre-cooked and the rice was heavily overcooked, completely lacking any freshness. The only saving grace was the brilliant front-of-house team—friendly, quick, and professional. Their effort was completely undermined by the kitchen. To the Head Chef: Seeing substandard food like that rubbery pork and overcooked paella leave the kitchen is a real letdown, especially when the entire front-of-house team works so hard to provide great service. It's truly a shame to see their efforts undermined by the final product. I dearly hope this was just a single, isolated bad day.
