About Venue

Two spacious floors of a former Victorian warehouse on Leonard Street have been kitted out for daytime eating, drinking, thinking & meeting. The interior blends the raw, pared-down character of the factory building with layers of bespoke furniture, mosaics and graphic lighting features, as well as the constantly evolving exhibitions that adorn the walls. Its open, airy, drowning in natural light and the perfect environment for meetings, lunches, an afternoon cocktail or a quick game of ping pong!

At night, TBC offers a cultural revolution to the East End’s social scene turning the conventional arts institution on its head, fusing boozing with brain power every night of the week through our thought provoking program of Superculture events. At the weekend we step it up a notch with clubs nights from local and national promoters featuring DJs such as Scroobius Pip, Roots Manuva, DJ EZ, Craig Charles and Norman Jay.

The Book Club’s underground space will be capturing the wintery magic of Christmas this year with an enchanted woodland decor. It’s comprised of a dedicated DJ and dance floor area, a large bar and two seating areas located both in the private room and underneath our 22,000 multi-coloured lightbulb ceiling.

Sectioned areas can very naturally be closed off due to its layout; meaning it has the capacity to feel busy with 80, but can comfortably host up to 250 guests at a time. The sound can be phased according to each area of the room so guests can chat comfortably down one end whilst people party down the other. There are also toilets, a photobooth and a cloakroom located on this floor, making it an entirely self-sufficient party space.

Visited this place a few weeks ago with friends and was shocked by how poorly we were treated. The security outside clearly has no idea how to manage guests professionally. My friend was simply standing nearby while someone in our group was smoking, and the security guard rudely demanded we "leave the premises" using dismissive hand gestures. It felt aggressive, intimidating, and completely unnecessary. To make matters worse, the lady collecting money at the entrance was equally rude no welcome, no courtesy, just attitude. If you're looking for a fun and respectful night out, avoid this place at all costs. There are far better venues in the area where you're treated like a human being, not a problem.
