Rhum Tavern is a private events venue on Margaret Street, W1W 8SE - 4 minutes on foot
from Oxford Circus station (Elizabeth, Central and Bakerloo lines), 2 minutes from Hanover
Square.
The venue contains one of the few genuinely hidden event rooms in central London:
Captains Quarters, reached through a working bookshelf door at the rear of the bar. From the
main floor, there is no visible entrance. Most guests don't realise the room exists until they
walk through it.
The interiors reference classic ships and ocean voyages - wood-clad walls, high ceilings,
lantern lighting, and a bar serving signature cocktails including Dead Man Tells No Tales,
served in a skull. Full AV across both spaces. Licensed to 1am on Fridays and Saturdays.
Two spaces available for private hire:
Captains Quarters for up to 80 guests, from £1,500
minimum spend.
Exclusive Hire for the full venue, up to 150 guests, from £6,000. Both run
on a bar tab model - no room hire fee charged on top of the minimum.
Entertainment packages available from [£25] per person: rum masterclasses, Kraken terrarium
workshops, fire performers, live musicians, magicians and DJ hire.
Well suited to product launches, corporate away days, client receptions, team socials,
birthday parties and private dining.
About Exclusive Hire:
Full exclusive hire of Rhum Tavern, Margaret Street W1W 8SE - up to 150 guests, 4 minutes from Oxford Circus station (Elizabeth, Central and Bakerloo lines).
The hire covers both venue areas: the main bar and Captains Quarters, the hidden rear room reached through a bookshelf door. Both can be used simultaneously or configured separately across the same event - useful for a morning boardroom session that moves into an evening reception, or a presentation that opens into standing drinks.
Configurations:
- Standing reception: up to 150 - Seated dinner: up to 40
- Boardroom: up to 40
- Theatre: up to 40
- Cabaret: up to 50
- Classroom: up to 40
AV - Captains Quarters: 65" screen, projector, sound system, microphone, USB-C input, DJ decks, WiFi.
Minimum spend: £6,000 Sunday–Wednesday / £8,000 Thursday–Saturday. The minimum runs entirely as a bar tab - there is no room hire fee charged on top. If bar spend falls short of the minimum on the night, the difference is charged as a venue hire fee. Late extension to 1am at £300 per hour (Fridays and Saturdays).

- Canapé, afternoon tea and buffet packages: also available on top of the minimum spend
Food and pre-ordered drinks settled one week prior to the event.

Ticketed events and promoted club nights also permitted.
No minimum numbers.
Late license to 1am on Fridays and Saturdays included in minimum spend.
For groups of up to 80 or budgets below £6,000, Captains Quarters is available from £1,500
