The George Inn, Winchester

Popped in for a quick pint mid week evening. The place is old and getting drinks at the bar required some effort when it is packed, but the atmosphere is fantastic. Great space outside with giant screen. Fantastic vibe. Loved it.

Came here on the spur of a moment today. I've been wanting to come for ages as it's a National Trust property. This is a massive pub and restaurant. It has many different bars and seating areas. E chose to eat in the upstairs dining area, which was a lovely spot and peaceful compared to the rest of the pub. There's a great choice on the menu with something for everyone. Was tempted by the fish and chips but put off by the calorie content. Had the fish cakes and chips with loads of salad . The portion sizes were good, and food was tasty as well as being cakes. There's a smallish dessert menu, but the sticky toffee cake with Custurd was delicious. Staff were all really friendly. Definitely recommend booking a table, especially at weekends.

The pub offers a large quantity of seats outside with 4 screens, which 3 small/medium ones on the sides qnd a big one at the end. Good service, nothing special. The food was good, I liked the hamburger and the chips. Would I come back? Sure, why not!
