About Venue

Located in a late Victorian courthouse on Deansgate, next door to Spinningfields, our aim is to serve the best steaks in Manchester. The interior is true to the building and features lots of reclaimed materials from the era, including parquet flooring from a (different) courthouse, panelling from Birmingham’s Sandwell College and (well-cleaned) glazed bricks from a public lavatory in Liverpool.

The menu in our restaurant features the very best dry-aged beef, sustainable seafood and seasonal farm produce from the UK. You can also dine and drink in our bar featuring award-winning cocktails and nibbles including The Hawksmoor Burger and our British Jersey Rock oysters in 3 ways – natural, with bone marrow or Vietnamese-style. If you’d prefer more intimate dining, for small groups and celebrations we have a private dining room that seats 10-14 as well as a semi-private area to seat up to 30.

As at all of our restaurants there’s £5 corkage every Monday and on Sundays there’s the roast beef that Observer Food Monthly named ‘Best Sunday Lunch in the UK’. For those needing respite from shopping or a post-museum pick-me-up there is also a set menu available lunch and early evenings Monday to Saturday and all day Sunday.

Cancellation policy

The deposit will not be refundable in the event of a cancellation with less than 7/14/30 working days prior to the reservation (7 PDR, 14 semi-private, 30 full hire). Changes to number of guests can be amended up to 48h before the event. Failure to provide such notice, you will be charged the agreed party size and pre-order choices.

We had a great time with Samson our server. He was very knowledgeable, as we asked him which steak to choose. He took his time with his recommendations and served us with care and attentiveness. We mentioned we were celebrating our 10 year anniversary and he surprised us with 2 dessert wines on a plate with Happy 10 year anniversary written in chocolate on the plate, after our meal. Made our date so special so thank you so much Samson!

2nd time here and as with first, it did not dissappoint. From start to finish the guest experience was flawless. Craig in the bar was very chatty and remembered me from last time. Our server was Matt who was very knowledgeable and helped with our choices. Great food, great company and amazing atmosphere. No wonder its popular. Very highly recommended.

We had the best dinner of our lives. The Vietnamese Oysters are a must to have if you visit and you will not be disappointed- they were the best oysters we have ever had. The portions are big and everything we had we loved (and we tried everything!). The cocktail selection was great - I would recommend the Double Melon Daiquiri. The service from everyone, waiting staff, bartenders and hosts was fantastic!! Yes the prices are higher than your average restaurant but you pay for the quality of the food, people and atmosphere and it shows. Amazing!!!
