Whitworth Art Gallery

Just visited the Hokusai and Hiroshige exhibition with many exceptional prints in two large exhibition rooms. Manchester is very fortunate to have this free to visit space. Comparable exhibitions in London would be £20 for an adult to visit. This exhibition is a must see with prints that inspired Van Gogh and many others. There was a Rembrandt print of St Jerome in one of the adjacent rooms. The gardens at the back are a tranquil oasis and would be ideal for a picnic on a warm day

A wonderful gallery. I am on mo way an art connoisseur however, this gallery has something for everyone, even the kids. The cafe is spectacular, however be prepared for a bit of a wet to get in and also it can get quite hot in there if the sun is shining on it. However, you get spectacular views of the surrounding park. The stuff are all absolutely wonderful and the food is equally wonderful. If you are visiting by yourself as I was, they do offer the opportunity to sit at a table with others who are on themselves as it is a very popular venue.

Man, this place os incredible. Tate level quality gallery, these guys know 100% how to show art, protect from direct sunlight light, decorate rooms and provide logical journeys through their various exhibitions. I really tip my hat at the people running this gallery, I can think of no finer managed joint. We went to see the Japanese wood block art and were blown away, not just by the art but the layout, the explanations and the entire treat of being there. Well done. I will return for sure. The gardens outside looked superb and the cafe a pleasure to be in.
