About Venue
A £15 million development has transformed the gallery, doubling it in size and creating new spaces that embrace the park it calls home.
Yet although the Whitworth is about to open a new chapter in its history, the organisation itself has a much broader story to tell.
You'll be able to find out about that story here, alongside information about our research projects, our wonderful historic collection, the Friends of the Whitworth, the people who work here and much more.

Super cool gallery with a cafe, kids area, shop and lovely displays. We went for the ceramic fair and it was lovely

As ever, the building is stunning, the cafe delightful and the exhibitions superb. I went for the Hokusai and Hiroshige exhibition of Japanese prints which was amazing. Also loved the Trees exhibition (missed a trick in not calling it 'Brilliant Trees') and the works curated by those recovering from addiction. This was very moving and inspiring. Very, very pleased to see the copper mobile restored and on display again. I love the Whitworth so much that it is 100% worth spending 4 hours on a train from Birmingham to spend 2 hours in the gallery. Honestly, I'd visit to stare at the floor alone.

Such a fascinating exhibition of block printing, the great wave and other items. The most exquisite kimono. Beautiful pieces. A little busy on a Saturday lunchtime. Went back just before closing to get a better view. Can't recommend it enough.

Nice place, art museum, with different exhibitions including Turner, sometimes I think did he really had other life then drawing!?) Interesting position for women toilet!) why not to make at least one hook for bags!? Condition is terrible inside - a lot of black mold on ceiling, walls(( Great caffe with best position in park!) good coffee! 👏🏻
