About Venue

Shotton Grange is an elegant Georgian Manor and Coaching House which is now one of the North East’s finest wedding and events venues. Nestled within 6 acres of country grounds and exquisite walled gardens, it’s located in Northumberland but is only a short drive from Newcastle. So no matter whether you’re from Alnwick or Amble, Blyth or Morpeth, you can find an exquisite wedding venue right at your doorstep.

Shotton Grange is an excellent choice for your perfect day. Situated in the Northumbrian countryside means your wedding can escape the hustle and bustle of city living, and only being a short distance from Newcastle means it’s easy to get to. Our wedding venue has everything you’ll need to make your wedding day one to remember, including a number of different function rooms, luxury accommodation and scenic grounds.

Our beautifully-restored Coach House is the perfect rustic setting for your wedding ceremony or reception, able to seat up to 110 guests. There are plenty of spots to relax too, including the cocktail bar and lounge, the Drawing Room and the cosy Snug. You can also enjoy our walled garden and grounds, which are perfect for a warm summer wedding.

Inside the manor house you’ll find a total of eight beautifully-adorned bedrooms, including the bridal suite which features its own dressing room. We also have an adjoining cottage that sleeps an additional 6 guests, meaning 22 guests can be catered for in total.

Shotton Grange is available for a number of different celebrations and private events alongside our wedding offerings. If you’re looking to celebrate your birthday or wedding anniversary in splendour then private hire is available, with the venue fully licensed for live entertainment. There are many reasons to celebrate, and for christenings, baby showers and naming days we think Shotton Grange is a great place to host these very special occasions.

Shotton Grange is also available for private dining, including luncheon or afternoon tea in the drawing room and evening meals in the Coach House. And if you’re a business looking to host a corporate event with colleagues or clients, then you can get in touch to discuss your specific requirements.

From the moment we first visited Shotton Grange we knew it was the perfect place for us to get married, but we can honestly say it exceeded every expectation we had, and that our wedding day was more perfect than we ever could have imagined. We received so many compliments throughout the day on just how amazing the venue was! Everything was just absolutely perfect and all members of staff really all did go above and beyond to give us the best experience. The whole Manor House and every bedroom is absolutely stunning. All the details in the rooms are amazing, and staff made us and all of our guests who stayed over feel so welcome from start to finish, with nothing being too much of an ask. The food is truly outstanding quality and it was such an important touch for us that we could create our own bespoke menu. Ever since we booked our wedding everyone at Shotton Grange was so helpful and supportive. No question has ever been too much of an ask, and we have been beyond impressed at just how responsive the staff were throughout. Book your wedding at Shotton Grange - you won’t regret it!

Stayed here numerous times on business, the standards were consistently high for facilities, staff friendliness and overall comfort. The bar area is open and welcoming with a wide bar menu and the food quality superb. Staff go out of their way to be friendly and enhance the customer experience. Hotel is ideally located to access motorways to Liverpool, Manchester, Warrington . Knutsford is a mile away with a wide selection of restaurants and bars for a change of scene. Testament to the hospitality and quality of stay is my repeated return .

My husband and I stayed here for one night for a wedding. I won't comment on the wedding service itself, but rather on the accommodation. We were severely disappointed by the quality of the room. The price we paid was not reflected in what we received. The room was very basic—just a bed, which turned out to be two single beds pushed together with a double sheet over them. As a result, we kept slipping into the gap throughout the night, which made for an uncomfortable sleep. The windows in the bedroom only opened slightly (about 3 inches), and since it was a warm evening, the room became stuffy. No fan was provided. While one might have been available on request, it seems reasonable to expect at least a small fan to be kept in the wardrobe during the summer months. The ensuite bathroom was modern, which we appreciated. However, on arrival, we found a large dead moth in the shower tray. Additionally, there were cobwebs and dead spiders in the window frames, which made the room feel uncared for. Overall, we felt that the room fell far short of expectations, and the price we paid was not justified.

Attended one of my best friends wedding here and I was shocked at quality you got for the price. We were in the side "cottage" living quarters. It was £180 for one nights stay. I have never left so ripped off. The room was a dusty, cobwebbed square and there was dead moths and spiders everywhere. For the price of the room you only got a small kettle and that's it. There was no coffee machine, no TV, air con or fan and no bath. The shower hardly had any pressure and the carpets were dirty and stained. There was 1 single hanger in the cupboard. We stayed the night because we were going to stay back for the after party function. We thought it was going to be two rooms. One with food and drinks with beer pong and another with karaoke. We were shocked to see it was all crammed into a small room. There was no space to relax in there as we thought. The karaoke was a speak and a tablet. Hardly karaoke. When it didn't work correctly, the staff just said they can't do anything about it and walked off. The food at the wedding itself was hit and miss. It was the best lamb I have had for a long time but the starter were a mushy crab cake and the dessert was a tasteless brulee. There was no water on the tables until I mentioned it to the staff during the mains. The drinks... prepare to have your eyes taken out. We were having malibu and coke & gin and lemonade. The round was between £13 to £16. Weren't sure why the price kept changing but didn't notice until the next day when checking bank transfers. Everything was over priced. A friend had made the mistake and asked for doubles at the beginning and got stung for two drinks for £30. You have to wake up early for the breakfast as it is only serving from 08.30 to 09.30. They literally kick you out at 09.30. It was the worst breakfast ever. Everything is just made in a batch and put in steamers. Hash browns and black putting was mush. The only good thing about this place was there is a black haired lady who greeted us on arrival at reception and showed us to our room. She also was serving food and drinks and in the morning she was in the breakfast area too.
