We booked a family suite, and being in the centre of town right next to the train station you’d think it would be noisy, but there was no noise at all. The rooms are huge. Family suite was on the top floor though so not really suitable if you need to take a pushchair to the room as the lift goes to 2nd floor then there’s a few flights of stairs to get to your room. Breakfast was very tasty. Staff were knowledgable and friendly.

I really liked this hotel. The small double was an ok size but might get too warm for two people without air con. If you shower, make sure you open the window to the room because the room gets much hotter. The room had a fridge which was unfortunately not working (the light was on but the fridge didn't work). I didn't try the facilities but it has a gym, pool, sauna and steam room. Great location for the train station. If you booked direct, you got a free drink on arrival and a voucher code for money off for future bookings. Make sure you bring £1 if you want to store luggage because they ask for a donation. Overall a nice hotel with a lot of history

Just had a short solo trip to Newcastle for 2 days and had a stay in Royal station hotel. The historical atmosphere is perfect and the staffs from front desk are nice! I've my booking of a single room through hotels.com & the hotel arranged me for a small double room which is more spacious and it's really a lovely stay. I've not much opinions which the room rate is in reasonable price (Friday night) but it's a bit difficult to find my room (on 2/F) which I check-in. Just told myself it's historial architecture... and some rooms are reached behind stairs. Overall it's a nice stay. xx

The staff were helpful, kind and humble. A shout out to Michael and the blond guy who served me. My room had a great view out the window. The building needs upgrading but still has a certain charm and majestic appearance. You can work in the lounge and this hotel is extremely close to the train station and in fact it's such an ideal location, centre of everything that if I were to visit I will probably go there again. It was easy to get to the castle, cathedral and town centre from the hotel.
